Eighteen Windsor High School students competed in the schoolโs annual science fair last month. The students chose research topics and completed projects on a variety of topics, including food, biological and behavioral sciences, as well as computer engineering, Windsor science fair director and teacher Catharine Ford wrote in an email.
A panel of 15 judges selected nine students to present their projects at the Vermont Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Fair on March 14 at Norwich University:
First place: Wilson Engwall, โUsing Vibrations in Morse Code to Interpret Textโ; and Grace Blanchard, โThe Effects of Over the Counter Medications on Planariaโs Livelihood.โ
Second place: Izzie Mouser, โHow Carbon Fibers in Field Hockey Sticks Affect the Ability to Drive the Ballโ; Audrey McFarland, โThe Effect of Encouragement on Performanceโ; and Isebella Ciccarelli, โCatching Zโz?: How Relaxing Bedtime Activities Affect Time Awake During Sleep.โ
Third place: Jocelyn Wrightson, โThe Tipping Point of Typos: How many errors disrupt comprehension?โ; and Jaylin Lyman, โNose Knows Exercise.โ
Honorable mention: Peter Larson Cammock, โCan Videogames Improve Short-Term Memory?โ; and Lucas Renninger, โWhat Surface Produces the Fastest Slapshot?โ
