Eighteen Windsor High School students competed in the schoolโ€™s annual science fair last month. The students chose research topics and completed projects on a variety of topics, including food, biological and behavioral sciences, as well as computer engineering, Windsor science fair director and teacher Catharine Ford wrote in an email.

A panel of 15 judges selected nine students to present their projects at the Vermont Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Fair on March 14 at Norwich University:

First place: Wilson Engwall, โ€œUsing Vibrations in Morse Code to Interpret Textโ€; and Grace Blanchard, โ€œThe Effects of Over the Counter Medications on Planariaโ€™s Livelihood.โ€

Second place: Izzie Mouser, โ€œHow Carbon Fibers in Field Hockey Sticks Affect the Ability to Drive the Ballโ€; Audrey McFarland, โ€œThe Effect of Encouragement on Performanceโ€; and Isebella Ciccarelli, โ€œCatching Zโ€™z?: How Relaxing Bedtime Activities Affect Time Awake During Sleep.โ€

Third place: Jocelyn Wrightson, โ€œThe Tipping Point of Typos: How many errors disrupt comprehension?โ€; and Jaylin Lyman, โ€œNose Knows Exercise.โ€

Honorable mention: Peter Larson Cammock, โ€œCan Videogames Improve Short-Term Memory?โ€; and Lucas Renninger, โ€œWhat Surface Produces the Fastest Slapshot?โ€

Post-secondary accomplishments

Connor Bowen, of Sharon, and Jordan Lebron, of Lebanon, made the deanโ€™s list at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., for the fall 2025 semester.
