Five state troopers who shot at a man during an incident on West Street in Keene last month have been named by the N.H. Attorney Generalโ€™s office.

Sgt. Nicholas Levesque, Sgt. Noah Sanctuary, Sgt. Aramus Caraballo, Trooper Matthew Dushame and Trooper Jacob Hunt all fired during the incident, the office said in a news release Thursday.

David Ward, 57, was fatally shot by police after a five-hour standoff in a parking lot near TD Bank on Aug. 12. Authorities have said Ward was armed and refused to get out of a parked vehicle after law enforcement approached him to serve a warrant.

The incident brought dozens of law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel to the area, as well as two armored vehicles.

The officers who fired shots have between three and 14 years of experience on the force, according to Thursdayโ€™s news release. All five are all members of the New Hampshire State Police SWAT Unit, the AGโ€™s office said Thursday.

Levesque and Sanctuary were both involved in a shooting in November which resulted in the death of a 58-year-old in Plymouth, N.H. An investigation by the AGโ€™s office found they were justified in using deadly force.

Sanctuary was also involved in two previous police-involved fatal shootings, one in Claremont in 2021 andย one in Walpole, N.H., in 2022, according to the Attorney Generalโ€™s office records. The victims in both those cases allegedly threatened other people.

The West Street incident remains under investigation, according to the AGโ€™s office.
