Women’s lacrosse wins twice, closes home schedule
Dartmouth women’s lacrosse went 2-0 last week, routing UMass Lowell 23-5 on Tuesday before beating Columbia 19-9 on senior day Saturday in Hanover.
Catherine Erb had seven goals and an assist against Lowell. Against Columbia, Fiona O’Keeffe had a career-high seven goals and an assist, and Charlotte Myers added two goals and three assists.
The Big Green close the regular season Saturday at Princeton.
Men’s lacrosse falls to No. 6 Cornell
Dartmouth men’s lacrosse fell 15-9 to No. 6 Cornell on senior day Saturday in Hanover.
The Big Green trailed 6-4 at halftime, took a 7-6 lead into the fourth quarter, then were outscored 8-2 in the final frame. Alex Jessey led Dartmouth with three goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Max Becker made 11 saves and now has 131 on the season.
The Big Green close the regular season Saturday at Princeton.
Baseball goes 3-1 against Siena, Harvard
Dartmouth baseball went 3-1 over four games last week against Siena and Harvard, improving to 10-19 overall and 6-9 in Ivy League play.
The Big Green beat Siena 5-3 Wednesday on a four-run sixth inning. Andrew Lombana earned his first win of the season, allowing one run on four hits in seven innings.
Dartmouth won the Harvard series by going 2-1 over three games. The Big Green won a back-and-forth 5-3 decision Friday as Mac Burke and Trey Sejnoha combined for 3.2 scoreless innings in relief. Saturday’s doubleheader split: Dartmouth won the opener 6-4 in 12 innings on a two-run single by Henry Murray in the 12th, then fell 7-6 in the finale after blowing a 6-2 lead in the eighth.
Softball goes 0-2 against Brown
Dartmouth softball dropped both games of a home doubleheader against Brown on Saturday, falling 5-2 and 11-0.
Justice Malone hit a solo home run in game one and Olivia Schramm drove in a run with a double, but Brown scored four unanswered in the fifth and sixth innings.
In game two, Brown broke the game open with a seven-run sixth inning including a grand slam. Sunday’s series finale was postponed to April 28.
Hockey players earn ECAC monthly honors
Dartmouth men’s hockey placed two players on the ECAC’s monthly awards list for March.
Defenseman Tim Busconi was named Defender of the Month after posting a goal, two assists and a plus-5 rating in five games, including the overtime winner in the ECAC Championship against Princeton on March 21.
Goaltender Emmett Croteau was named Goalie of the Month after going 4-1 with a 1.16 goals-against average and a .953 save percentage, including a shutout in the ECAC semifinals against Clarkson.
Equestrian falls in NCEA semifinals
Dartmouth equestrian fell 7-2 to No. 3 Charleston in the NCEA national semifinals in Ocala, Fla., on Friday, closing out the program’s third straight appearance at the national championships.
Grace Russo earned the top Dartmouth score in fences while Camilla Jerng and Cassidy Exner each earned points on flat.
Women’s rowing wins five on Senior Day
Dartmouth women’s rowing won five of six races against Northeastern at the Lake Morey Invitational on Saturday, Senior Day for the program.
The Big Green won the Varsity Eight (6:33.3), Second Varsity Eight (6:41.2), Varsity Four (7:23.0), Second Varsity Four (7:33.5) and Third Varsity Eight (6:48.7). Northeastern’s lone win came in the Fourth Varsity Eight. The team travels to Worcester on May 2 for the Women’s Eastern Sprints.
The previous weekend, the Big Green placed second to Yale in all contested events at the Class of 1985 Cup on the Housatonic River, posting times of 6:10.0 in the Varsity Eight and 6:17.2 in the Second Varsity Eight.
Heavyweight rowing goes 3-1 at Brown
Dartmouth heavyweight rowing went 3-1 against Brown on Saturday in Providence, winning the 4V (5:48.1), 3V (5:46.1, after Brown was disqualified) and 2V (5:30.2) before finishing nine tenths of a second behind the Bears in the 1V (5:18.0).
The Big Green host a Lake Morey Invite on April 25-26 against Syracuse, Boston University, Wisconsin, Georgetown and Columbia.
Yale wins lightweight rowing Durand Cup
Yale won the Durand Cup on the Connecticut River on Saturday, ending Dartmouth’s two-year winning streak in the event.
The Big Green won the 2V race by 2.3 seconds (5:05.9) but fell to the Bulldogs in both the Varsity 4 and 1V events. Dartmouth hosts Cornell this weekend.
Men’s tennis falls to Cornell, Columbia
Dartmouth men’s tennis dropped both road matches last weekend, falling 4-0 to Cornell on Saturday and 4-1 to Columbia on Sunday.
Against Cornell, Henry Ren and Miles Groom won at first doubles but the Big Green could not secure the doubles point.
Against Columbia, Kornel Halmos won 6-2, 6-2 at fourth singles for Dartmouth’s only point of the weekend. The Big Green close the regular season Sunday at Harvard.
Women’s tennis splits weekend matches
Dartmouth women’s tennis split its final two regular season matches, beating Cornell 4-0 on Saturday before falling to Columbia 4-0 on Sunday.
Against Cornell, Michela Moore earned her 50th career singles win and Peyton Capuano clinched the match at first singles.
Against Columbia, the Big Green won one doubles match and pushed three singles matches to a third set but could not overcome the Lions. Capuano led the team this spring with a 13-4 record at first singles.
Men’s golf fourth at Roar-EE Invitational
Dartmouth men’s golf finished fourth at the Roar-EE Invitational at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, N.Y., posting a team score of minus-6 in the two-round tournament.
Tyler Brand led the Big Green, tying for eighth overall. Luke Harper tied for 14th and Fin Szafnauer tied for 24th. Dartmouth opens the Ivy League Championship Friday at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.
Sailing heads to nationals
Dartmouth sailing finished 13th in the open division at the NEISA Open Fleet Race Championship at Brown and 10th in the women’s division at the Reed Trophy at Coast Guard over the weekend.
The Big Green head to Tulane for the Open Team Race National Championship, April 23-25, followed immediately by the Women’s Team Race National Championship, April 26-27.
Track and field competes at UConn
Dartmouth track and field split participated in the UConn Northeast Invitational.
At UConn, Jack Tan won the pole vault with a personal record of 5.00 meters, Liam Murray won the 400 meters (47.26), and Winston Morgan ran the 200 meters in 21.33, sixth all-time in program history. Mariella Schweitzer placed third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.40, third all-time) and won the long jump. Colton McMaster placed second in both the discus (51.15 meters) and hammer throw (58.08 meters, a personal record).
The Big Green travel to Philadelphia for the Penn Relays on Thursday.
