TUNBRIDGE, VT — Scott Charles Guth, 87, passed away peacefully at home on September 16th, 2020. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 8th, 1933 to Carl Guth and Ruby Scott. He spent most of his childhood in McPherson Kansas and had many great stories from his time there. Scott was a great storyteller and his childhood memories of working as a soda jerk or singing songs around the piano with friends were always entertaining.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University Arizona and later went on to get his medical degree from the University of Missouri. While in school, he fell in love with his Chemistry lab partner Liz Brody and they were married shortly thereafter. After graduation, he worked as a psychiatrist in Kentucky, Massachusetts and Vermont before retiring to his country home in Tunbridge, VT.
Scott and Liz bought their Tunbridge home, “the farm”, in 1977, and worked together and with their boys to build and renovate their beloved home. Scott loved the farm and we will cherish memories of Scott working the land with Jackson (his ox), gathering with friends, and playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Liz Guth; two sons, Aaron Guth and his husband Celso Pombo of NY, NY and Ethan Guth and his wife Robin Collins of Burlington, VT; and grandchildren, Jonah Guth, Ruby Guth, Sylvia Collins and Benjamin Collins.
A private remembrance will be held at the farm with close friends and family.
