J.L. Robert Bellavance

Berlin, N.H. — J.L. Robert Bellavance, 86, passed away on Thursday Jan. 11, 2018, at the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin. He was born in Hardwick, Vt. to the late Napoleon & Clarida (Leclerc) Bellavance. Robert graduated from Lebanon High School and earned his master of education from Keene State College. He continued his education at the University of Massachusetts studying law. Robert served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He retired from the town of Gorham, N.H. as superintendent of schools. He enjoyed sailing, camping, woodworking and skiing.

Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years Leta (Flanders) Bellavance; a daughter, Christal Bellavance; and a son, Nicholas Bellavance (Sandra). He has three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers, Adrian Bellavance (Sandy) and Raymond Bellavance (Mari) of Lebanon, N.H.; and four sisters, Cecile Carr (Gene) of Lebanon, Margaret Bates (Wayne) of Lyme, N.H., Madeline Edwards (Dan) of Enfield, N.H. and Pauline Grant of West Canaan, N.H.

He was predeceased by his daughter Donna Amy Hill.

There will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lebanon.
