Randolph Center — The Board of Trustees of the Vermont State Colleges System has appointed Patricia Moulton as the president of Vermont Technical College, a role she has filled on an interim basis since September.

Trustees voted unanimously over the weekend to have Moulton play a permanent role, saying she has helped stabilize Vermont Tech finances and increased interest in the college among prospective students, officials said in a news release on Monday.

“Pat will be an excellent leader for the Vermont Tech of today and for the future. She is a gifted leader and administrator and fully devoted to providing the best student experience possible. She has already gained the trust and affection of the entire Vermont Tech community,” State Colleges System Chancellor Jeb Spaulding said in the release.

Moulton, a 1981 graduate of University of Vermont, previously served as secretary of the Agency of Commerce and Community Development and commissioner of the Vermont Department of Labor.

Moulton is the first female president in the 150-year history of Vermont Tech, which includes residential campuses in Williston, Norwich and Randolph Center and regional campuses in Brattleboro and Bennington.
