SB2 Effort: Inclusion is just beginning
Thank you for your recent coverage of the Plainfield town meeting (“Plainfield voters reject SB2”). Seeing the faces of neighbors like Ian Rogers, Jesse Medeiros and the determination of the “64” in print reminds us that democracy is a living, breathing thing.
While the vote did not swing toward SB2 this year, the conversation has only just begun to bloom. It is easy to celebrate a “win” when the sun is out, but true community thrives when we ensure the shade doesn’t fall on our neighbors. Providing the opportunity for every residentโthe nurse on a shift, the parent at home, the worker in the fieldโto cast their vote isn’t just a policy change; it is an act of moral inclusion.
We often don’t realize how comfortable our own seat is until we try to sit in another’s. Exclusion can feel like tradition, but fairness smells like progress. The Plainfield pulse continues to beat, and we look forward to a future where every voice is invited into the light.
