Canaan, NH – Bernadette Audrey Charbono, 81, of Canaan, New Hampshire passed away peacefully at her home on January 7, 2026, after a courageous and graceful acceptance of a terminal pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
She was born to George and Marion Bill (both deceased) on July 9, 1944, in Hanover, New Hampshire and lived a happy long life in Enfield and Canaan. She graduated from Enfield High School in 1962 and enjoyed working at Lucien’s Drug Store during school years.
After 63 years of loving, laughing and caring, she is survived by her husband Stephen Charbono, three daughters Cindy Macedo (John), Donna Hendee (Mark) and Terri Baillargeon (Bob), 11 siblings, Priscilla Dube, Alice Lecain, Regina Decato, Roger Bill, Gloria Lehr, Philip Bill, Francis Bill, Theresa Hamlin, Joyce Hardee, Elaine Townsend and Peter Bill, and her grandchildren, Krystal, Amber, Bryan (Step), Michael, Corey (Step), Jenna (Step), Robert, Stephen, and Chandler, four great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. She and Steve chuckled when they realized they had a total of 63 nieces and nephews together. Each one holding a special place in her heart.
She was a beautiful, loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who found her joy in loving her family and being outside. Crosswords, jigsaws, reading and country music were her favorite solitary pastimes, but mostly she loved spending time with her loved ones and anyone lucky enough to sit at her table and share a cup of coffee or take a walk with her usually left with a full heart.
A service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026. Hours are 5-6pm for family, 6-7 pm for public with a service beginning at 7 pm at Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon New Hampshire. You may also express condolences through Ricker’s website at www.rickerfuneralhome.com.
