HANOVER โ The best of recently graduated high school lacrosse players in New Hampshire and Vermont are set to battle it out on Saturday at Hanover High in the annual Hanover Lions Byrne Cup Twin State All-Star Lacrosse Games.
Among the athletes from the Upper Valley on the New Hampshire boys roster are Benji Madory (Lebanon), Abe Pearson (Lebanon) and John Taylor (Hanover). Rowan Larmie (Woodstock), Graham Thompson (Hartford) and Adam Wheatley (Hartford) made the Vermont boys roster.
As for the girls, Nella Bowen (Hartford), Bradleigh Bushee (Hartford), Aleks Cirovic (Woodstock) and Maeve Roylance (Woodstock) will represent Vermont. As of Wednesday evening, there were only eight athletes on the New Hampshire girls roster, none of whom are from the Upper Valley.
The games, sponsored by the Hanover Lions Club, a nonprofit organization, not only allow athletes to show off their skills one more time before heading off to their future endeavors but also serve as a fundraiser. According to the eventโs website, โall net proceeds will go toward funding charities and programs the Lions support.โย
Eyecare and hearing aids for those in need, cystic fibrosis research, Dresden baseball, and Twin State soccer are among the many causes and organizations to which the Lions currently provide support, per a list provided by the director of the games, Star Johnson.
While there will be no admission fee on Saturday, spectators are encouraged to make a donation in place of it. Those interested in donating online can do so at https://www.twinstateallstars.com/donations.php.
