Hartford stands out at SVL meet
The boys Hartford High cross country team took the first four places and six of the top ten in a Southern Vermont League cross country meet in Springfield, Vt., Tuesday.
Elliot Brooks won the 5,000 meter race in 18:34 with Hurricane teammates Elijah Ofstad, Scott McSherry and Leo Snyder-Hamalainen finishing second, third and fourth in the field of 31 runners.
The Hartford girls had seven of the top 10 finishes with Sylvia Johnson second, six seconds behind Desi Broadley of Green Mountain who won the 5,000 meter race in 20:18. Anya Young of White River Valley was third and Lyla Metheny of Hartford fourth among 20 runners. Asher White of White River Valley was 11th in the boys race.
Results: Boys – Hartford 19, Mill River Union 57, Bellows Falls Union 115. Girls – Hartford 19, Green Mountain Union 39, Mill River Union 55.
