LEBANON — A first-alarm dryer fire required the evacuation of an apartment building on Dana Street Saturday night.
At about 11:30 p.m., the Lebanon Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in the building. When firefighters arrived, there was “visible smoke coming from the front door,” according to a news release from the Department.
The Lebanon Police Department evacuated the two-story, three-unit building while firefighters from Lebanon, Hanover, Enfield and Windsor located and extinguished the fire in the basement, which was caused by a clothes dryer.
“It was just a terrible thing,” but “my wife and I feel very fortunate that we have good tenants and a wonderful fire department,” property owner Patrick Flanagan said in a message Monday.
The building’s residents were able to return to their apartments by 1:30 a.m.
No residents were injured. One Lebanon Police Officer was treated on scene for smoke inhalation.
