WINDSOR — Main Street will be closed between State Street and the 802 Credit Union for about six hours Wednesday so that the Windsor Diner can be moved to its new location.
The move is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a news release from the town. People will not be allowed to park vehicles along the roughly .3-mile stretch of Main Street, which is also Route 5.
“(Police department) and highway crews will be out in the morning, moving along any vehicles left parked in the spaces marked,” the release said.
The diner will be moved from 135 Main St., using a crane and trailer, to an empty lot on 161 Main St. Windsor on Air is planning on filming the move.
The diner shuttered in January after Blanchard Contracting workers found structural issues in the foundation under the 1952 Worcester Diner Company diner car.
The property it will be moved to is owned by the Guy B Vitagliano Foundation, which was founded by Blanchard Contracting owner Greg Blanchard.
The diner’s owner Theresa Taylor hopes to reopen it this fall.
