LEBANON — The public comment period is open for a key regulatory document in the relicensing of the Wilder dam.

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services has released a draft document that outlines conditions to protect water quality and continued access to the Connecticut River, according to a news release from the Connecticut River Conservancy.

The state has to issue this certification before the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee, FERC, can issue dam owner Great River Hydro LLC a new license for the hydroelectric dam. FERC has been going through a relicensing process with Great River Hydro LLC since 2012.

The document is available on the DES website at des.nh.gov/news-and-media/draft-water-quality-certification-2025-ferc-003-wilder-hydroelectric-project-p-1892.

Public comment can be submitted via mail to Water Quality Certification Program (Attention: Daniel Demers) at NHDES Watershed Management Bureau, P.O. Box 95, Concord, N.H., 03301-0095 or emailed to wqc@des.nh.gov until 4 p.m. on Friday, April 11.

Written comments should include the project name, Wilder Hydroelectric Project, certification number, P-1892, and the sender’s name, organization, mailing address, email address and phone number.
