Articles of note: A $13.19 million school budget for the Mount Ascutney School District and a recommendation to put half of a $1.25 million surplus for the last fiscal year in a capital reserve fund are the two main articles on the school district warning for Windsor and West Windsor residents.
Contested races: Incumbent Davis McGraw is running unopposed for a three-year seat on the board. No one has filed in West Windsor to replace Bill Yates, whose term expires this year.
Budgets and spending articles: The budget represents an increase of 12.34%, or roughly $1.45 million, from the current year.
Larry Dougher, Director of Finance and Operations for the Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union, said the increase is in a few main areas including health and dental insurance and regular wage increases.
The school district is reporting a surplus of $1.25 million for the last fiscal year and is asking voters to put half in the existing capital reserve fund.
When, where and how to vote: An informational meeting on the school district warning will be held virtually on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. Voting by Australian ballot on the warning will be on Tuesday, March 1, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the recreation center gymnasium for Windsor residents and at Story Memorial Hall for West Windsor residents.
