NORTH HAVERHILL — Officials with the Grafton County House of Corrections are testing inmates and staff after three correctional officers were found to be positive for COVID-19 this week.
The testing will be held within the next three days, Prison Superintendent Tom Elliott said. He declined to name the officers who tested positive but said there was “limited exposure” to inmates. The officers who did go into the units where prisoners are held followed all safety protocols, including social distancing and wearing face masks, Elliott said.
He also said no inmates are currently showing symptoms of COVID-19, adding that this is a “more precautionary testing cycle.”
Elliott said the prison has not relaxed any of the safety measures put in place at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic last year. Prisoners and staff are still wearing masks, incoming prisoners still go through a quarantine period, and staff are still screened before they enter the building for work every day.
