WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT — Sherman Farris, 74, passed away from his ongoing heart condition Wednesday January 27th, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in White River Jct., VT.

Sherm was born in Freedom, ME where he was raised by his Mama Smith. After graduating high school, he joined the Marines. Sherman completed his Marine Recruit Training at Paris Island, SC in 1966. He was then sent to Vietnam where he proudly served his country for 4 years.

Once home from the war, Sherm had plans to travel south, however, as he would say, he “got stuck” in White River Jct., VT, where he lived the rest of his life to the fullest.

Sherm worked for Amerigas for 30 years as a heating technician. He later took on a part time job at Fisher Auto parts in WRJ to keep himself occupied.

Sherm loved hot rods and looked forward to car shows, especially the Northeast Street Rod Nationals in Essex Jct., VT every Fall. He was a proud member of the Rust Runners, Twin State Cruisers and Carz Hot Rod Clubs. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW both of White River Jct. He enjoyed attending the Saturday night dances at the VFW, dancing the night away with his wife Pat and many friends. Sherm loved life and spending time with his family and friends.

Sherm was preceded by his two brothers, Jerry and Lloyd.

Sherm is survived by his wife of 5 years, Patricia Chase Farris, son Shawn Thibodeau, his wife Jen, and their children; Amber, Jasmine, Kyra and Tucker; and grandson Winstin. Daughter Ashley Farris and her children, Jaden, Gabby and Gunnar. Son Aaron Farris and his daughter Taylor. Daughter Krystal Chase, her boyfriend Brandon and her son Brody. Son Jack Chase and his girlfriend Nancy along with MJ. Sisters, Florence and Joyce, many Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

At Sherm’s request, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be planned and announced at a later date.
