FAIR HAVEN, Vt. — Hartford High’s boys track and field team won seven of 16 events to finish in first place at the Slater Invitational at Fair Haven High on Saturday afternoon.

Hartford’s girls took second behind Burr & Burton, followed by VPA Division III Woodstock in third place. The Wasps’ boys also took second behind the Hurricanes. Hosts Fair Haven placed third on the boys side and fourth on the girls side.

The Canes were led once again by Abayomi Lowe, who swept the 200 meters in 23.67 seconds and the 400 in 52.34. Fellow Hartford senior Hunter Noyes followed closely behind, finishing second in both the 200 (25.20) and the 400 (54.72). Canes’ Cameron Eldredge took third (55.24) in the 400 and Finnian Sunde placed fifth (57.20), putting four Hurricane runners in the top five.

Lowe also anchored Hartford’s 4×400 relay team with Noyes, Eldredge and Aaron Mitchell, winning the event in 3:40.78. Mitchell also won the 800 in 2:10.64 and Edward Jeon won the 110 hurdles in 20.56. Hartford also got wins in the 4×800 relay (9:53.56) and an uncontested victory in the pole vault (8-0).

Woodstock’s boys got their wins via Logan Crane in the high jump (5-6) and Tyler Bean in the triple jump (36-8.5). Crane also took second in the javelin (126-10) and Owen Coates finished second (2:14.82) in the 800 for the Wasps.

Kennedy Mullen led Hartford’s girls to a runner-up finish behind Burr & Burton, finishing first in the 800 (2:28.04), long jump (15-2.5) and triple jump (34-4). Maliya Sinclair won the javelin (91-7) and Eleanor Hinckley won the high jump (4-8). Freshman Kayla Burnham was second in the 3,000 (12:55.53) and Gretchen Josselyn was second in the 100 hurdles (18.47).

Woodstock’s Lola Dorsogna won the 200 (28.82), Faye Stevens won the 100 hurdles (17.81), Novah Conway placed second in the 300 hurdles (55.71) and Anna Hepler finished second in the 800 (2:28.02) and the 1,500 (5:24.16).

Sharon Academy’s Laila Reimanis won both the 1,500 (5:11.23) and the 3,000 (11:28.08).

HANOVER — Lebanon coasted to a home victory on Hanover’s turf due to poor field conditions on Lebanon’s field.

Clara Cole and Jessie Hastings each had a hat trick for the Raiders. Ashlyn Taber, Katie Berthasavage and Emma Hansen each scored twice. Izzy Peress scored one goal and also added two assists. Cole, Hansen, Libby Stone and Rachel Harrington also had helpers. Lina Nowell recorded 13 saves.

“It was a great win for us,” said Lebanon head coach Sara Ecker. “We started out slow on someone else’s field, but ended up putting a lot of hustle and effort into the win.”

Lebanon (2-3) will host Trinity on Monday.

WAITSFIELD, Vt. — The Hurricanes trailed by two at halftime and couldn’t recover, falling to 5-4.

“The score doesn’t tell the level of intensity that was played between the two teams,” said Canes head coach Heather Hartford.

Zoe Pfeiffer lead her team with four goals and one assist. Tayler Simmons and Jasmine Jenkins each contributed two goals and one assist. Goalie Emi Harlow had 11 saves.

Hartford visits U-32 on Tuesday.

SoftballNewport 9, Newfound 3

NEWPORT — Lacey McNeel pitched a complete game in the circle with 10 strikeouts, helping the Tigers to a home win.

McNeel also helped with the bat, scoring twice and also hitting a double. Shelby Adams, Megan Howard and Libby Tremblay each doubled as well. Howard led Newport offensively with two RBIs.

Newport hosts Monadnock on Monday.

Hollis Brookline 21, Lebanon 2

HOLLIS, N.H. — Keira Hines and Angeleena Davis tallied the Raiders’ only RBIs in a tough offensive outing on the road.

Lebanon (0-7) will host Merrimack Valley on Monday.

Thetford 8, Randolph 5

THETFORD — Seth Boyce paved the way to a home victory with nine strikeouts through 5⅓ innings.

Mason O’Donnell relieved Boyce for in the first, giving up no hits, no walks or runs. Alex Emerson closed the game out, also giving up no hits.

John Moore led the way offensively with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jake Colby went 2-for-3 at the plate for one run and one RBI. Ryan Pepe went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Thetford (2-2) hosts Oxbow on Monday.

Sunapee 9, Farmington 0Sunapee 12, Farmington 2

NEWPORT — Pitching shone for Sunapee as it won both sides of a doubleheader played on Newport’s field.

Darren Hulton pitched six scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Hulton also helped offensively with three hits and four RBIs. Matt Nangeroni went 3-for-5 at the plate and scored three runs. Harper Flint was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Quinn Fair started the second game, pitching four innings with three strikeouts. He left the game with one earned run. Harper Flint led the charge offensively, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Anthony Borelli went 1-for-1 at the plate and knocked in Drew Nichols.

Sunapee (7-1) hosts Hinsdale on Monday.

Kimball Union 7, Proctor 0

ANDOVER, N.H. — Claremont native Noah Spaulding led the Wildcats on the mound, allowing only one hit through six innings. He also struck out eight.

Eli Jaynes threw one inning of relief and gave up no runs. Jaynes and Kyle Young each had two hits, KUA as a whole had 11.

Kimball Union hosts St. Paul’s on Monday.

Hollis Brookline 3, Lebanon 2 (8)

HOLLIS, N.H. — Lebanon scored two early runs, but fell just short of victory in extra innings on the road for its third one-run loss of the young season.

Raiders’ Kyle Pelletier pitched eight innings, giving up just five hits in that span and just two earned runs. Joey Dupree had one RBI and scored the other run off a hit from Jonathan Willeman in the first, giving Lebanon a 2-0 lead. Hollis tied the game in the second inning and eventually won it on an error in the eighth.

Lebanon (4-3) hosts Merrimack Valley on Monday, then hosts unbeaten John Stark on Tuesday.

LEBANON — Lebanon was unable to steal a victory from undefeated Littleton in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

Emerson Sleeper was the lone winner at No. 3 singles in match one for the Raiders, winning, 8-5. Sleeper later teamed up with Lexi Zagarola at No. 2 doubles in match two, winning, 8-6.

Lebanon (4-4) will host Stevens on Monday and Trinity on Friday.

College SOFTBALL

Dartmouth 8, Princeton 6Dartmouth 12, Princeton 4

HANOVER — The Big Green combined for four home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Princeton.

Seven Dartmouth players scored at least one run in game one. The Big Green exploded in the sixth inning. scoring seven of their eight runs. Calista Almer, Micah Schroder and Morgan Ebow all each collected two RBIs in the victory.

In game two, Dartmouth did its best work in the second and fifth innings, scoring five runs in each. Schroder shined with four RBIs and Taylor Ward came through with three.

Dartmouth (12-27, 9-11) hosts its last game of the season against Princeton at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

College BASEBALL

Cornell 8, Dartmouth 6Cornell 2, Dartmouth 1

HANOVER — The Big Green suffered its fifth loss in a row and the Big Red extended its winning streak to five games.

In the first game, Ubaldo Lopez had three runs. Nate Ostmo and Trevor Johnson both had two RBIs.

In a low-scoring second game, Matt Feinstein got Dartmouth’s only run. Steffen Torgersen had one RBI.

Dartmouth (14-26, 7-13) hosts Princeton on Sunday at noon for its last game of the season.

College Track and FieldColby-Sawyer Competes at New England Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN Mass. — The Chargers finished up their season at the New England Championships.

The Chargers’ women’s 4×800 relay team — Amanda Martin, Bryanna Parker, Amanda Boyd, and Alison Fairbairn — posted time of 10:02.69 to place 11th. The Chargers’ men’s 4×100 relay team — Shawn Shepard, Michael Bullen, Jacob Nichol, and Eric Morin — had a season-best time of 45.10 seconds to finish 20th overall.

Martin also accomplished a distance of 10.95 meters in the triple jump and finished 16th. Peter Bakker finished the 3,000 in 9:56.17 for 14th place.
