WINDSOR — Hartford High’s girls and Thetford Academy’s boys each took second place behind VPA Division II powerhouse Bellows Falls at the Windsor Invitational track and field meet at the Murphy-Morse Track Complex on Saturday.
Kennedy Mullen once again led the Hartford girls, finishing first in the 400-meter dash (1 minute, 2.87 seconds), long jump (15 feet, 2.5 inches) and triple jump (34-0). Maliya Sinclair won the shot put (31-1.5) and the discus (103-10), freshman Bethany Davis was third (2:45.40) in the 800 and Gretchen Josselyn was second (18.05) in the 100 hurdles for the Canes.
Woodstock’s girls took third, led by Victoria Basssette’s win in the 800 (2:27.33). Faye Stevens also won the 100 hurdles (17.70). Sharon was led by Laila Reimanis, who won the 1,500 (5:13.66) and took second in the 3,000 (11:00.01).
Thetford’s boys were led by a strong showing in the 3,000. Owen Deffner won the race in 9:28.66, Tad Darrah took third in 10:15.18 and Bel Spelman placed fourth in 10 10:20.89. The trio, along with Eli Kaliski, won the 4×800 relay, Riley Burkins won the high jump (5-8) and Knute Linehan swept the long jump (19-8) and triple jump (40-2).
Hartford’s boys took third, led once again Abayomi Lowe, who swept the boys dashes. He won the 100 in 11.50 seconds, the 200 in 23.31 and the 400 in 52.85. Hunter Noyes was second (54.80) and Cameron Eldrege was third (56.37) in the 400. Aaron Mitchell won the 800 in 2:08.87 for the Canes. Hartford’s 4×400 relay team won in 3:44.52.
Oxbow’s boys finished fourth, led by Jarret Rock, who finished second, behind Lowe, in the 100 (11.74). Tim Hodges also took second in the 110 hurdles (16.98) and the 300 hurdles (43.43).

SOUTH ROYALTON — The Wildcats won both sides of a doubleheader to improve to 5-0.
Carder Stratton led the way both on the mound and at the plate for White River Valley in game one. He allowed one unearned run on two hits, no walks in five innings and was 2-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored for the hosts. He also struck out six in the victory.
George Carr led the offense with three hits, two RBIs and four runs scored. Jacob Hewitt was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Triston Irish was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Dominic Craven and Donovan Forcier split time on the mound in game two. Craven allowed one run on two hits in the first two innings, striking out three, and Forcier gave up no runs, one hit, one walk and struck out one in relief.
Austin Tracy led the offense with three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Wildcats. Irish was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a sacrifice fly, and Timber Russell was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Weston Trombly had two RBIs and recorded his first varsity hit.
White River Valley hosts Black River on Wednesday.
SOUTH ROYALTON — Wildcat pitchers Fiona Vaillancourt and Blake Southworth pitched no-hitters to help White River Valley stay undefeated at 6-0.
“It’s really outstanding,” said head coach Sandy Gates. “For such a young team, they’ve really come together and they’re starting to jive really well.”
Vaillancourt struck out 14 in game one and went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and a triple. Southworth struck out 10 in game two, but gave up 10 walks.
Sarah Howe was 5-for-7 with eight runs scored, two RBIs and a double, and twin sister Sophie Howe was 5-for-8 in the doubleheader with six runs scored. The Wildcats host Randolph on Thursday.
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. — The Wasps (1-2) snatched their first win of the season with key contributions at the bottom of the ladder to beat the Colonels for the first time in four years, according to coach Dave Miles.
Blake Heston won at fourth singles over Brattleboro’s Ty Smith, 6-2, 7-5, for Woodstock’s clinching point. The Wasps also swept doubles, highlighted by a 4-6, 7-6, 10-8 win at No. 2 for Gabe Bango and Max Mambsch, who was making his varsity debut for Woodstock.
“I’m just thrilled we got our first win,” Miles said. “I knew we had a chance going in.”
No. 2 Carl Gebhardt and No. 5 Noah Anderson provided singles points, and the tandem of Henry Greene and Danny Drebber was victorious at first doubles for Woodstock, which visits Burr & Burton on Monday.
HANOVER — The Big Green manufactured a late comeback for its third consecutive win, scoring three runs in the seventh inning and another in the eighth to improve to 14-21 overall.
Dartmouth (7-9 league) overcame a 5-3 deficit and finished the game with 14 hits. Nate Ostmo went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the way. Matt Feinstein was 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI, and Steffen Torgersen went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Ubaldo Lopez tied the game, 5-5, in the seventh inning, sending an RBI doubl e into center field that allowed Feinstein to score. Ostmo scored on an error later in the inning and Bryce Daniel drove in Trevor Johnson in the eighth to round out the scoring.
Game two of the three-game series was postponed to Sunday, resulting in an 11:30 a.m. doubleheader.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Big Green (9-26, 6-11) split a doubleheader with the Bears at the Brown Softball Field.
In game one, Dartmouth scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Big Green lead-off batter Calista Almer was 3-for-4 on the day.
Shelby Wilkison scattered three hits, walked another three and allowed Brown to score in the fourth inning. She also struck out one. Brooke Plonka allowed one hit and struck out one in two innings in relief to secure the win.
In game two, Brown jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings off of a Dartmouth starter Madie Augusto, who allowed six earned runs on five hits and two walks in 1⅔ innings. Brooke Plonka entered the game in the second and struck out six and walked one in 4⅓ innings of relief.
Dartmouth scored two runs in the fifth, one run in the sixth and another in the seventh but couldn’t complete the comeback. Micah Schroder was 3-for-4 with two RBIs in game two. The Big Green managed 10 hits in the loss.
HANOVER — The Big Green gave themselves a shot at the NCAA tournament with a win over the Crimson in their season finale.
Dartmouth wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles put the Big Green in front headed into singles play, where the hosts swept Nos. 1, 2 and 4 matches. Three-set victories by Peter Conklin at No. 4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, and Charlie Broom at No. 2, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, clinched the victory.
The Big Green now await its postseason fate during the NCAA selection show on Monday.
Women’s Lacrosse
NEW LONDON — Simmons sophomore Molly Reinhold scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Sharks over the Chargers in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference quarterfinals.
Simmons trailed, 8-5, with 13 minutes and 42 seconds left to play before rattling off four consecutive goals to retake the lead. Colby-Sawyer senior Sierra Schuster tied the game, 9-9, with 26 seconds left in regulation, converting on a free position shot.
Chargers goaltender KailynLapham made 13 saves in the loss. Colby-Sawyer finishes its season with a 10-7 record.
