Hartford — The assistant fire chief in Hartford will step down later this month to take the helm of Upper Valley Ambulance.

Hartford Fire Chief Scott Cooney announced Alan Beebe’s departure on Monday.

Beebe, who has been with the Hartford Fire Department for 17 years, will serve his last day in town on Jan. 25, according to a news release.

He then starts his new job as executive director of Upper Valley Ambulance in Fairlee.
