Quechee — Three players scored in double digits as the Mid Vermont Christian School boys basketball team defeated Trinity Baptist, 55-33, on Monday night for its first win of the season.

Daniel Roberts scored 16 points for the Eagles, who trailed, 14-8, after one quarter before they held Trinity to single-digit scoring in each of the last three quarters.

Dylan Patel and Hunter Cooper added 12 points apiece.

There’s little time to rest for MVCS, which visits West Rutland tonight.

Woodsville 72, Lisbon 63

Woodsville — Billy Green scored 22 points as the Engineers (1-1) collected their first victory of the season.

Corey Bemis had 16 points for Woodsville, which led 26-19 at halftime.

Patrick Estes added 12 points and Brendan Walker nine thanks to three 3-pointers.

Woodsville greets Sharon on Monday.

Girls Basketball

Woodsville 48, Lisbon 41

Woodsville — The Engineerd improved to 4-0 by knocking off their fourth straight undefeated foe.

Emily Prest netted a career-high 19 points for Woodsville, and teammate Morgan Wagstaff added 12 points and Olivia Sarkis 11. The Engineers led at halftime, 21-17.

Woodsville has a week off before Sharon comes to town on Monday.

MVCS 62, Trinity Christian 9

Quechee — Hayley Goodwin scored 24 points as Mid Vermont Christian (2-0) earned an easy victory.

Rachel Horner-Richardson added 18 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Eagles, while Sydney Goodwin scored 12 and eighth-grader Sky Whitcomb scored her first varsity points.

MVCS returns to action tonight at Twin Valley.

Men’s Basketball

Dartmouth 82, Sacred Heart 73

Hanover — Adrease Jackson scored 20 points, Chris Knight had seven points, 12 rebounds, nine assists and four blocks and Dartmouth beat Sacred Heart in a Leede Arena matinee in front of mostly middle schoolers on School Day.

Jackson, a sophomore, had his second 20-point game of the season and third of his career. Knight, the reigning Ivy League player of the week, set career highs in rebounds and assists.

Brendan Barry made four 3-pointers and scored 17 points for Dartmouth (6-5). Ian Sistare and James Foye each scored 10 points. The Big Green, ranked in the top 10 nationally in 3-pointers made per game, hit 11 of 29 from distance and shot 52.4 percent overall.

Dartmouth used a 16-point first-half run to help build a 42-27 halftime lead as Sacred Heart was held to two points over the final seven minutes.

Jare’l Spellman had 19 points and eight rebounds for Sacred Heart (4-6). Sean Hoehn added 15 points and E.J. Anosike had 14 points and eight boards.

Big Green Player Earns Academic Honor

Hanover — Dartmouth linebacker David Emanuel was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America’s Google Cloud Academic All-America second team on Monday.

He is the 19th Big Green all-academic selection in program history and first since linebacker Michael Runger made the second team five years ago.

Emanuels is a biomedical engineering major with a 3.96 GPA who played in all 10 games while starting seven times. The 6-1, 225-pound senior finished the season third on the Big Green with 51 tackles, including a career-high 11 in a 35-24 victory at Cornell.
