Worcester, Mass. — Derek Ng booted a 45-yard field goal in overtime as Holy Cross rallied for its first win of the season, a 31-28 victory over Yale, the reigning Ivy League champions, on Saturday afternoon.

Martin Dorsey stretched out in the end zone to haul in a 29-yard scoring strike from Geoff Wade to pull Holy Cross (1-2) within a touchdown with 4:32 left in the game.

The Crusaders stopped Yale at the 5 in overtime and Ng’s kick gave first-year coach Bob Chesney his first win. Wade accounted for 312 total yards, throwing for 242 and two TDS while rushing for 70 yards and another score.

Harvard 36, San Diego 14

Cambridge, Mass. — Aaron Shampklin rushed for 178 yards and four touchdowns and Harvard opened its 145th season with a victory over San Diego.

Shampklin ran for three of his touchdowns in the first quarter, including a career-long 64-yarder for the sophomore, when the Crimson took a 27-3 lead in their highest-scoring quarter since 2013.

Shampklin’s four rushing TDs were one short of the school record set in 1951 by Tom Ossman.

Penn 34, Bucknell 17

Philadelphia — Karekin Brooks ran for two first-quarter touchdowns as Pennsylvania jumped out to a big early lead in its season-opener and beat Bucknell.

Ryan Glover threw a pair of touchdown passes for Penn (1-0), which has beaten Bucknell (0-3) in seven straight games.

Columbia 41, CCSU 24

New Britain, Conn. — Josh Bean threw for 128 yards and a touchdown and Columbia beat Central Connecticut.

Dante Miller ran for 93 yards and a score for the Lions in their season opener. Ty Lenhart ran for two touchdowns and Chris Alleyne kicked a pair of field goals.

Delaware 27, Colgate 10

Newark, Del. — Pat Kehoe threw for one touchdown and ran for another, leading Delaware over Cornell.

Kehoe’s 14-yard pass to Joe Walker in the first quarter and 5-yard scoring run in the second staked the Blue Hens (2-1) to a 14-3 lead and the defense did the rest. Malcolm Brown led the defense, which had three sacks and five tackles for loss, with 11 tackles

Princeton 50, Butler 7

Indianapolis — John Lovett connected with Jesper Horsted for two touchdowns and ran for two more and Charlie Volker had two touchdown runs, all in the first half, and Princeton opened its 150th season with a win over Butler.

Lovett and Horsted hooked up for a 63-yard touchdown pass on the second snap of the game to start the fireworks. Lovett had scoring runs of 21 and 4 yards to help the Tigers open a 24-0 lead. He then found Horsted for a 15-yard score before Volker scored on 2- and 19-yard yards runs for a 44-7 halftime lead.

Colorado 45, New Hampshire 14

Boulder, Colo. — Travon McMillian rushed for 162 yards and two scores.

Steven Montez was 14 of 19 for 166 yards passing and another score to help Colorado (3-0) win its home opener. The Buffaloes have won their first three games for the second straight season.

New Hampshire (0-3) scored on two big plays in the third quarter. The Wildcats have lost their first three games since starting the 2002 season 0-4.

W. Connecticut 32Plymouth St. 28

Plymouth, n.h. — Western Connecticut (2-0) reeled off the game’s final 19 points, capped by Jaret DeVellis’ 32-yard interception return for a touchdown, to rally past the Panthers (1-1).

David Hamilton ran 20 times for 101 yards and a touchdown as Plymouth State built a 28-13 third-quarter lead.

Wesleyan 52Middlebury 21

Middlebury, Vt. — Sean Penney’s three short touchdown runs set the table for the Cardinals’ win over the Panthers (0-1).

Penney scored on runs of 4, 2 and 3 yards. Wesleyan’s defense limited Middlebury to just 27 yards on the ground.

Norwich 40, Castleton 0

Castleton, Vt. — Clyde Tamburro and Lavontae Decius enjoyed two-touchdown days on the ground as the Cadets (1-2) routed the Spartans (1-2).

The Cadets poured it on the second stanza, building a 31-0 lead by halftime.
