Kody Melendy

Austin, Texas — Kody Houston Melendy, 20, died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, in Austin. Born in Lebanon, N.H. on Dec. 27, 1997, to Randy Melendy and Mae Leisy, Kody attended Sacred Heart School before moving to Calif. and later to Texas, where he graduated from high school. Kody was born with Ring 20 Chromosome Disorder; because of this, he continued his life-skills education after graduation.

Kody loved to be with family. He was a very happy, loveable young man. He enjoyed weekend outings with his mother and sister going out to eat and playing at entertainment centers. In recent years, he participated in the Special Olympics where at the District and State levels he received a silver medal for bowling and a gold medal for basketball. While visiting his Dad in N.H., Kody enjoyed walking in the woods, riding four wheelers and swimming with his siblings. Kody loved being with his grandparents where he was able to dance to country music and raid the cupboards for Cheetos and paper towels. Ripping paper towels and rolling them into tiny pieces would keep Kody content for hours. Kody held an extra-special place in the hearts and home of Aunt Candy & Uncle Dale. There Kody was just another one of the kids who could be found outside on the tractor, blowing bubbles and riding his scooter. He was famous for snatching cooling cookies off the rack and swiping cake off the table at family parties.

Kody is survived by his father Randy & (step-mother) Joanna Melendy, mother Mae & (step-father) Daniel Leisy; younger siblings Angelica, Bo & Cheyenne; paternal grandparents Carl & Hazel Melendy, Sr. and maternal grandmother Luz Coscolluela; Uncle Dale & Aunt Candy Hammond, Uncle Terry & Aunt Renee Melendy, Uncle Carl & Aunt Paula Melendy, as well as many aunts & uncles residing in the Philippines; and many cousins that loved and treated him like a brother.

All are welcome to a Celebration of Kody’s life that will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. at 73 Cross Road, Lebanon.
