The center will begin accepting patients in December.
The celebration will begin with a lecture, “Living Fully, Dying Well,” by Dr. Ira Byock, a palliative care physician, author and public advocate for improving care through the end of life. Byock served as director of palliative medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock from 2003 through July 2013, and has written three books about end of life care. He will be speaking at 4 p.m. on Friday in Auditorium H at DHMC.
On Sunday, the center will host visitors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for tours of the center and its patient rooms, chapel, great room, family kitchen, children’s room and library, and program highlights such as the art and music program, education offerings and volunteer opportunities. Parking for the event will be at DHMC’s main entrance lot, with shuttle service to the center.

Lebanon — The American Academy of Neurology recently recognized Dr. Barbara Jobst, a neurologist with the Epilepsy Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, for completing the Transforming Leaders Program.
Jobst has been a leader in integrating self-management programs into neurologic care through education within the American Academy of Neurology. This includes programs like one developed at Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Epilepsy Center that helps patients with epilepsy and memory problems to learn mental strategies to have better memory in day-to-day life. Jobst’s recommendations are being reviewed by the academy’s board for implementation.
