Belinda Needham-Shropshire, director of rehabilitation services at Mt. Ascutney Hospital, said the commission has rigorous standards and renewing the accreditation shows that Mt. Ascutney has an ongoing commitment to excellence in patient care.
“People who need rehabilitation services aren’t just patients, they’re consumers who have choices,” she said in a news release. “We’re devoted to doing things the right way, and (this) accreditation is a powerful symbol of that for those we’re here to serve.”

The theme for this year’s event is “Small Plates for a Big Cause,” a play on the Spanish tradition of tapas, which are small tasting plates. There will be a sangria bar and music as well as an auction at which attendees can pledge support to VNA programs. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m., at the New London Historical Society, 179 Little Sunapee Road, New London.
Cathy Raymond, development officer at Lake Sunapee VNA, said in a telephone interview that the organization hopes to have about 140 people attend, and to raise $25,000 for staff education.
“Our staff has grown and we’ve gotten a lot bigger in the last year,” she said. “We budget an amount for education but always need more.”
The event is open to the public and tickets cost $75, which includes all food and drink. To purchase tickets or get more information, call 603-526-4077 or visit the Lake Sunapee Region VNA office at 107 Newport Road, New London.
