New London Hospital Adds Family Medicine Provider

New London — Physician John Malcolm has joined the family medicine practice at New London Hospital.

Malcolm received his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and is board-certified in family medicine. He completed the New Hampshire Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency at Concord Hospital.

Malcolm, who grew up in Lyme, looks forward to practicing in the area.

“I gravitated to family medicine because I wanted to be able to see a wide range of patients in a tight-knit community,” he said. “Joining the fantastic team at New London Hospital will allow me to do just that.”

Hanover Terrace Recognizes Employee For 33 Years of Service

Hanover — Linda Weaver, who has worked at Hanover Terrace Health and Rehabilitation Center for 33 years, has been named Employee of the Month at the skilled nursing facility.

Weaver, 52, began working at Hanover Terrace as a licensed nursing assistant in 1984, and now works in the activities department. In all her roles, she said, the highlight of her job is building relationships with patients.

“The residents and staff love and care about me as I love and care about them,” said Weaver, who lives in Hartford. “I just love the residents.”

Martha Chesley, administrator of Hanover Terrace, first met Weaver when Chesley was working as a nurse at the facility. When Chesley returned last year as an administrator she was happy to see that Weaver was still on staff. “It was just wonderful walking in and seeing Linda still here,” Chesley said. “She had stayed all those years for the residents.”

Mt. Ascutney Names Employee of the Month

Windsor — Vanessa Chaffee, the lead secretary for the Primary Care Clinic at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Care Center, has been named employee of the month for the organization.

“It is great to be recognized for the work put forth to make a difference in the lives of the patients,” said Chaffee, who lives in Charlestown and has worked at Mt. Ascutney for four years.

Heather Rumrill, Chaffee’s supervisor, said Chaffee is always willing to cover shifts for other employees and take the time to teach them, especially about the computer system.

Chaffee “willingly takes on difficult tasks and turns them into challenges,” Rumrill said.
