Hanover — Taylor Johnson scored 18 points and made a layup with a second remaining in overtime to lead the Dartmouth College men’s basketball team past Columbia, 80-79, on Saturday night at Leede Arena.

Columbia scored 10 of the extra period’s initial 16 points before Evan Boudreaux hit a 3-pointer from the corner to pull Dartmouth with 79-78 with 12.5 seconds remaining. Quinton Adlesh missed a pair of free throws on the Lions’ next possession. Johnson grabbed the rebound, ran the floor and made a right-handed scoop shot off the glass for the game-winner.

Guilien Smith led Dartmouth with 23 points. Boudreaux had 12 points and 10 rebounds for his 12th double-double of the season. Dartmouth is 6-17 overall and 3-8 in Ivy League play.

Luke Petrasek had 18 points for Columbia (10-13, 4-4), which trailed, 60-48, midway through the second half.

Women’s Basketball

Columbia 69, Dartmouth 48

New York — Camille Zimmerman had 20 points and 10 rebounds as Columbia (13-10, 3-7) dominated Dartmouth (6-17, 1-8) in a rematch of the teams’ four-overtime game earlier this season, also won by the Lions.

Fanni Szabo had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Big Green, and Isalys Quinones scored 12 off the bench.

The Big Green returns to action next week, when it travels to Brown and Yale during its final road weekend of the regular season. Dartmouth has four games remaining.

Skiing

Big Green Triumphs at Middlebury

Middlebury, Vt. — Dartmouth won all four events on the final day of the Middlebury Carnival to record 1,027 points, more than 200 ahead of second-place Vermont.

The Big Green has now won four of the five Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association carnivals heading into the NCAA Regionals next weekend.

The men’s alpine team produced three of the top four finishers in the giant slalom at the Snow Bowl. Junior Brian McLaughlin took home the gold in 2:01.38, edging Middlebury’s Robert Cone by a tenth of a second. Dylan Brooks was third (2:02.11) and Thomas Woolson fourth (2:02.33).

For the women, Dartmouth’s Kelly Moore and Stephanie Currie tied for third place in 2:07.06.

The cross country teams engaged in a classical sprint relay with two skiers making up each relay group and alternating on six, 1.5-kilometer laps. The Big Green claimed the top two spots with its freshman duo of Lauren Jortberg and Abby Drach (23:23.1) leading almost throughout. The Dartmouth pair of Taryn Hunt-Smith and Emily Hyde placed second.

The top men’s pair also came from Dartmouth, with sophomore Gavin McEwen and junior Luke Brown taking the gold (20:52.8).

The EISA Championship will be hosted by Bates College in Maine starting on Friday at Sunday River and Black Mountain.

Men’s Hockey

Yale 3, Dartmouth 0

New Haven, Conn. — The Bulldogs swept the season series by a combined 11-0. Dartmouth dropped to 10-14-3 overall and 7-11-2 in ECAC play.

Yale got first-period scores from JM Piotrowski and Ted Hart and followed up with John Hayden’s 18th of the year with 1:28 remaining in the second. Andrew Gaus sealed it with an empty netter with 43 seconds to play.

Yale improved to 11-11-5 and 7-9-4. Devin Buffalo made 31 saves for the Big Green, which closes the regular season at home next weekend, taking on St. Lawrence on Friday and Clarkson on Saturday.

Women’s Lacrosse

Dartmouth 11UMass Lowell 9

Lowell, Mass. — Senior Courtney Weisse notched a career-high five goals in the win as the Big Green opened the season with a victory for the third consecutive year.

Cara DePippo and Taryn Deck scored two goals each and Katie Bourque and Elizabeth Mastrio each added one tally. Dartmouth is back in action on Wednesday afternoon at New Hampshire.

Men’s Lacrosse

Canisius 13, Dartmouth 8

Victor, n.y. — Dartmouth fell to the Golden Griffins in the season opener for both teams, which was played at the indoor Pinnacle Athletic Campus.

Richie Loftus led the Big Green with three goals, followed by Jack Korzelius with two. Freshman George Christopher made 10 saves. Dartmouth hosts Sacred Heart on Saturday in its home opener.

Men’s Tennis

Columbia 4, Dartmouth 0

Princeton, n.j. — Columbia defeated Dartmouth on day two of the 2017 ECAC Men’s Indoor Tennis Championship.

The Lions (5-2) will play in the championship match today, while Dartmouth (3-5) will play Princeton in the third-place match.

Women’s Tennis

Williamsburg, Va. — Dartmouth (7-1) lost to William & Mary (4-5), its first setback of the season.

Julia Schroeder was the Big Green’s lone winner at No. 4 singles, 5-7, 7-6(4), 1-0 (10).

Boston — Eighth-ranked Dartmouth defeated No. 14 George Washington (8-8) to advance to the finals of the Hohen Cup in Division B of the CSA Team Nationals.
