Cpl. Michael Wright and Officer Zachary Lawrence received life saving awards for their work on March 16 with a woman who had overdosed.
The officers responded to a Lebanon residence, where they assessed the patient to find that she was not breathing and had no pulse, according to a news release from the police department.
They acted to administer CPR and shortly thereafter were able to detect a pulse and restore breathing. The Lebanon Fire Department responded to administer Narcan and further treatment.
Capt. Tim Cohen, who heads the department’s Professional Standards Bureau, received the department’s community service award. “His commitment to our community is unmatched and deserving of recognition,” the release said.
A 10-year member of Lebanon Police Department, Cohen facilitates many of its community engagement initiatives. He has volunteered his time to serve both the department and the greater Lebanon community, providing DJ, sound and emcee services to various community groups and police department-sponsored events, the release said.
An accomplished musician, he also frequently volunteers to perform for area charity and community organizations.
Chief Richard Mello presented the awards and thanked the officers for their dedication and service, the release said. “All three officers serve as great ambassadors for the Lebanon Police Department,” Mello said.
