Sanders to Campaign for Clinton Today at Dartmouth

Hanover — Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders will be back in the Upper Valley today, stumping for Hillary Clinton at Dartmouth College.

The campaign stop is being billed as a “Get Out the Vote Rally” and begins at 2:30 p.m. at the Dartmouth Alumni Hall. He’ll be at Plymouth State University earlier in the day.

Sanders lost to Clinton in the Democratic primary, but has been campaigning for her, as well as for Twin State Democrats, since Labor Day. Tuesday is the start of a coast-to-coast campaign tour, which is expected to take Sanders to 12 states before Election Day.

Both Hanover and Dartmouth are considered liberal bastions in New Hampshire. Out of the more than 5,700 people who casts ballots in the state’s February primary, 2,286 voted for Sanders and another 2,005 voted for Clinton.

Town officials expect to have about 10,400 people on the voter rolls by Election Day. Of the roughly 700 voters who have registered to vote since mid-September, about 60 percent are Dartmouth students, according to Town Clerk Betsy McClain.

Man Charged in Connection With Newport Road Rage Incidents

Newport — Police over the weekend charged a Newbury, N.H., man with firing shotgun rounds at a vehicle last month in Newport.

Nathaniel Hargreaves, 18, faces a felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon charge and will be arraigned on Nov. 8 in Newport District Court, according to a news release.

Hargreaves posted $10,000 cash bail on Saturday after his arrest and was released pending his court appearance.

On Oct. 23, Newport police said, authorities received a report of a road rage incident in which Hargreaves allegedly fired four shotgun rounds from his moving vehicle at another vehicle. The person who reported the incident told police the shooting stemmed from another road rage incident that had happened on Oct. 21 in Newport, but was not reported to police.

The reporting party gave a good description of the vehicle from which the shots allegedly were fired, and the Bradford (N.H.) Police Department later located the vehicle. Hargreaves subsequently turned himself in to Newport police.

The weapon used was a Weatherby 12-gauge shotgun, which the Newport Police Department seized, according to the release.

N.H. Town Clerk Charged With Disclosing Vehicle Information

Hancock, n.h. — New Hampshire authorities say the Hancock town clerk is charged with violating the driver privacy act by giving out protected motor vehicle information.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and the state police said Joan Joseph was arrested on Monday.

They say under the driver privacy act, only certain people and entities, including municipal motor vehicle registration agents, have access to Division of Motor Vehicle’s records.

Joseph is accused of obtaining the protected motor vehicle information, including a vehicle owner’s name and address, for a friend who wanted to know to whom a certain registration plate had been assigned.

Joseph could not be reached for comment.
