Lyndonville, Vt. — Two members of the Hartford High School baseball team were selected on Monday to play in this weekend’s Twin State Baseball Classic at Lyndon State College.

Infielder Jacob Perkins and outfielder Codi Smith were chosen as part of an 18-player roster consisting of athletes from 14 Vermont high school. Both were part of a Hartford squad that advanced to last week’s Vermont Division I semifinals before falling to St. Johnsbury, 2-1.

Vermont will take on a squad of New Hampshire Division III and IV all-stars to be announced later this week. The teams will play a pair of seven-inning games on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at Lyndon’s Skip Pound Field. The games are free of charge to attend.

Manchester — The Hanover High and Lebanon High boys tennis team’s seasons formally closed on Sunday with competition at the NHIAA doubles tournament at the Derryfield School.

Lebanon’s No. 1 tandem of Jacob Peress and Terran Campbell had the most successful day. Seeded first in the 27-team tournament, Peress and Campbell held a first-round bye before beating Souhegan in the second. The Raiders’ run ended in the quarterfinals to Exeter, which topped Hanover’s No. 1 duo of Graham Dickson and Benny Gantrish in the second round, 8-3. Dickson and Gantrish advanced out of the opening round on a walkover.

Hanover’s John He and Aidan Biglow also had a similar experience. Their first-round foes from Portsmouth Christian didn’t arrive, so the Marauder tandem moved on to the second round and were eliminated by Winnacunnet, 8-1.

Originally scheduled for June 5, the tournament was twice postponed by rain and didn’t start on Sunday until after two more rain delays.

SailingLalumiere Joins U.S. TeamFor International Regatta

Hanover — Dartmouth junior Charles Lalumiere will represent the United States beginning today at the Youth Match Racing World Championship in the South Pacific waters of Noumea, New Caledonia.

The regatta, which runs through through Saturday, features competitors from six countries and will be staged at the Noumea Yacht Club.

The College of Charleston’s Christophe Killian and Lalumiere qualified for the U.S. team by finishing first and second at last year’s Intercollegiate Match Racing Championship.
