Fort Worth, Texas — Jordan Spieth shot a 5-under 65, even while missing a lot of fairways and a few greens, to take the third-round lead Saturday at the Colonial.

The second-ranked Spieth was alone in the lead at the Dean & Deluca Invitational after three birdies and a huge par save in a four-hole stretch in the middle of his round. At 12-under 198, he was one stroke ahead of Colonial member Ryan Palmer and Webb Simpson.

Palmer overcame consecutive early bogeys to shoot 66. Simpson shot 67 after 3-foot par putt at the 18th hole for a share of the lead lipped out of the cup.

None of Spieth’s seven PGA Tour victories have come in his home state of Texas. The 22-year-old Dallas native tied for second at Hogan’s Alley last year, one of his three runner-up finishes in the state.

At Benton Harbor, Mich., Rocco Mediate shot an even-par 71 in tricky wind conditions in the Senior PGA Championship to take a two-stroke lead over two-time defending champion Colin Montgomerie into the final round.

At 14-under 199, the 53-year-old Mediate tied the tournament 54-hole record of set by Sam Snead in 1973 at PGA National and matched by Roger Chapman in 2012 at Harbor Shores. Mediate is attempting to become the first wire-to-wire winner in the event since Jack Nicklaus in 1991 at PGA National.

At Ann Arbor, Mich., Ariya Jutanugarn made a 15-foot eagle putt on the par-5 18th hole at Travis Pointe to take a one-stroke lead in the Volvik Championship.

Trying to become the first to win three straight LPGA Tour events since Inbee Park in 2013, the 20-year-old Jutanugarn shot a 1-over 73 to reach 10-under 206.

Pulisic, the youngest foreigner to score in the Bundesliga, got the final goal in the 69th minute. At 17 years, 253 days, he bettered the mark set by Juan Agudelo (17-359) against South Africa in 2010.

Revs Top Seattle

Foxoborough, Mass. — Lee Nguyen scored on a penalty kick and assisted on Femi Hollinger-Janzen’s go-ahead goal in New England’s 2-1 victory over Seattle in MLS.

Nguyen tied it in the 24th minute after the referee ruled that defender Erik Friberg handled the ball inside the penalty area. Nguyen has a goal and an assist in each of the last three matches.

Hollinger-Janzen, who entered the game in the 76th minute, went to the far post from outside the box to give the Revolution (3-4-7) the lead about 4 minutes later.

Aaron Kovar scored for Seattle (4-7-1) in the seventh. It was his first professional goal.

Track & Field Gatlin Wins 100 At Prefontaine

Eugene, Ore. — Justin Gatlin considers himself an antsy person, finding it hard to wait early in the season for the fast times he hopes to have later in the year.

The 34-year-old American sprinter had no time goal coming into 100 meters Saturday in the Prefontaine Classic and came away with the victory in 9.88 seconds at Hayward Field.

Jamaica’s Asafa Powell was second in 9.94, and American Tyson Gay third in 9.98.

The 2004 Olympic champion in the 100, Gatlin won at the meet for the sixth time. Trying to stay focused on his race and his lane, he had a solid start and didn’t give up the lead after taking it early on.

Gatlin will return to Hayward in early July for the U.S. Olympic Trials, with hopes of qualifying for the American team that will compete in Rio de Janeiro.
