Hanover
The Marauders lost, 9-8, at home to Nashua North on Monday afternoon at Merriman-Branch Field, dropping to 6-10 on the season. They must now win their final two games to keep their postseason hopes alive.
The Titans led 8-4 at halftime and 9-6 after three quarters, holding off a Hanover comeback in the fourth. The win improves North to 7-9 and was its final game of the regular season.
Wins by Hanover in its final two games, at Manchester Central on Wednesday and at Londonderry on Thursday, would lift the Marauders over the Titans in the New Hampshire Division I standings. Hanover will go forward without senior defender Tristan Gosselin, who is out for the rest of the season with mononucleosis.
“It was a decent comeback,” Marauders coach Ryan Gardner said. “We just couldn’t get it. They had too much possession at the end of the game.”
Brian Seltzer led Hanover with three goals. George Geraghty and Jake Arthur each had two goals and an assist. Graham Penfield added a goal and Reed Winter had an assist. Goalie Zander Lingelbach-Pierce played a strong game, according to Gardner, and finished with 15 saves.
Woodstock
Patrick Bald had two goals and two assists. Jackson Wood added a goal and three assists. Caden White and Lucas Piconi each netted two goals, while Patrick Potter and Cullen McCarthy scored one goal each. Jonas Kantola added two assists, and Jack Arthur had one. Goalies Coleman McKaig and Jake Luce combined for five saves.
Woodstock led 8-4 at halftime and visits Otter Valley on Wednesday.
Pelham, n.h.
Donovan Putnam led Stevens with two goals. Nick Eagan, Alex Devre and Logan Bateman also scored. Chris Lafont had a goal and an assist, and goaltender Tess Whitney had 12 saves.
Stevens hosts Plymouth today at 4 p.m.
South Londonderry, Vt.
Walkker Judd and Reece Thompson scored for Hartford (6-4). Nate Lemieux had an assist. Goalie Chris Dorain had seven saves.
“We learned a lot. I’m excited to play them again if we get the opportunity,” Hartford coach Bill Elberty said. “They are an elegant team of really, really good athletes.”
Hartford hosts St. Johnsbury for their Coaches vs. Cancer game on Thursday night at Hartford High School.
Litchfield, n.h.
Michael Fleury led the way with three goals for Lebanon. Ethan Didehbani and Jack Sandmann also scored. Nate Damren had an assist. Goalie Bryan Albright had 15 saves.
The Raiders visit Laconia this afternoon.
Chelsea, Vt.
Lauren Kaija assisted on the game-winner and led Woodstock with six goals and two assists. Nikki Sweeny had a goal and two assists, and teammates Grace Vosburgh, Lily Doton, Kallan Piconi and Abby Kaija also scored. Goalie Megan Dalton had 10 saves.
Woodstock (7-6) visits Stowe on Thursday.
Hanover
Molly Seibel added two goals and two assists for Hanover, Maddie Lyons had three goals, and Perrin Milliken and Jasmine Lou also scored for the Marauders. Goalie Aiden Stone had four saves.
Coach Chris Seibel also credited the strong work by Lyons, Seibel and Mahler Meyerrose on draw controls.
The Marauders have now won five of their last six games and host Windham on Wednesday.
White River Junction
Nate Walz reached base three times for Hartford, going 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Austin Gaudette, Jordy Allard and Dylan Spencer each went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Spencer started on the hill and went the first 4 innings, striking out four while walking two. Allard pitched 2 innnings of no-hit relief, striking out three.
Hartford visits Burr & Burton on Friday to close the regular season. A win over the Bulldogs would keep the Canes in line for a potential home game to open the Vermont D-I playoffs.
Woodstock
Woodstock held a 3-2 lead into the seventh that vanished when Green Mountain scored on a two-run double and a pair of Wasps errors. The hosts added a run in the bottom of the inning but couldn’t answer all the way back.
“It was tough; the kids deserved to win it,” Woodstock coach Jason Tarleton said.
Lone Wasps senior Joe Bianchi had a single in his final home-plate appearance at Woodstock on senior day. Devon Mumford was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Reiner Brown had a hit and scored a run.
Starting pitcher Owen Tarleton went the first 6 innings, striking out three while allowing two earned runs. Woodstock visits Leland & Gray on Wednesday.
West Canaan
Brueckner walked none and gave up five hits in a complete-game effort. Morrison slugged a three-run home run over the right-field fence in the bottom of the third inning to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead for the Royals. Mascoma tacked on six runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away.
Johnny Raymond was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Wyatt Wheeler singled and had an RBI for Mascoma.
“This is a big win for us; it keeps us mathematically in it,” Mascoma coach Guy Serviss said, whose squad ended a three-game Newport winning streak.
The Royals need to win their final two games, at Hopkinton on Wednesday and home against White Mountains on Friday, to make the postseason.
Westminster, Vt.
Pitcher Nick Kapuscinski went all six innings for the Jacks, allowing 10 hits and two walks while striking out four. Ryland Richardson was 2-for-3 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored.
Windsor visits Springfield today.
Wells River, Vt.
Seth Hannett and Jordan Clark gave up all eight runs in the first four innings. Hannett, Woodsville’s starter, lasted only 1 innings, walking the first three batters, giving up two hits and one hit-by-pitch. Jaret Bemis took over the last 2 frames and stopped the bleeding.
Bemis helped himself with two hits and a run scored, and Mike Dennis added a hit and reached base three times. Woodsville (9-5) takes on Moultonborough at home today.
Enfield
Katrina Batista was 4-for-5 with two doubles, six RBIs and four runs scored to lead Newport. Stephanie Carl was 3-for-5 with a triple, five RBIs and three runs scored. Stacia Dame had two hits and drove in three. Samantha McNeel was 4-for-5 with three runs scored. Emma Carroll had three hits and four runs scored. Kendall Hamilton had two hits and three RBIs.
Carl went all five innings for Newport, allowing four hits while striking out two. Ashlynn Moses had two hits for Mascoma.
Newport closes the regular season at Monadnock on Wednesday and at Kearsarge on Thursday. Mascoma visits Hopkinton on Wednesday.
Orford
Brianna Hillier and Sam Barcomb scored the game-winning runs with two outs to put Whitchester ahead. The Mountaineers amassed 16 hits. Lindsey LaPerle scored three runs, added two RBIs and three hits, Amelia Mattrick added three runs, a double and two RBIs, and Jordan Galluzzo hit two doubles and scored once.
Laura Vaillancourt recorded eight strikeouts, allowed eight walks and only gave up four hits in 6 innings.
Kirstyn Binford walked three times and scored twice for Rivendell, which also got three singles and two runs from Shay LaPine. Shaunna Simmons added a double and two runs.
Whitchester (5-9) and Rivendell (0-9) plays a rematch game Wednesday night at Rochester (Vt.) High.
Lebanon
Karli Sou and Morganne Young also had hits. Sydney Broughton went all six innings for Lebanon, striking out one while walking six. The Raiders conclude the regular season with a doubleheader today at Con-Val.
White River Junction
“We played a tough game; we lost to (Otter Valley) handily the last time we played them. I’m pleased with the way we battled. We played a great game,” Hartford coach Gary Gervais said.
Brooke Hurd pitched for Hartford, striking out eight, walking four and allowing just four hits. All four Otter Valley runs in the top of the ninth inning were unearned, courtesy of a pair of Hartford errors.
Hurd more than helped her own cause, going 2-for-3 with a game-tying RBI in the bottom of the sixth inning. Hurd then scored the go-ahead run later in the sixth to give the Canes a 3-2 lead heading into the seventh.
Kelsey Mason had two RBIs, and Emily Ballou singled and scored a run. Hartford (7-8) hosts Fair Haven on Thursday.
Thetford
Pitcher Brooke Horniak finished with three strikeouts for Thetford. Maddy Kingsbury, Carley Malloy and Danielle Robinson scored. Thetford (8-6) is in the midst of an offensive slump and has now lost four in a row. The Panthers visit Randolph today.
Woodstock
Green Mountain took the lead with six runs in the fourth inning.
Kaila Lemmer, Gabbi Rozumeck and Heather Blanchard had two hits for Woodstock. Elizabeth Fitzpatrick added a double and a single. The Wasps scored three in the first inning but were often left searching for a clutch hit as they left nine on base. Maddie Moore pitched a complete game. “It was one of those games we should have won,” Woodstock coach Jane Hoisington said.
Woodstock (9-5) visits Leland & Gray on Wednesday.
Manchester
Dodds has been in charge of the Marauders’ program the last 11 years, including all nine under NHIAA sanctioning. Hanover has won seven straight state crowns, eight of the last nine and has traveled all over the country to compete against other high school programs. Dodds owns a 208-29-8 record over his time at Hanover and has sent a number of athletes to NCAA Division I and III women’s hockey programs. Dodds’ brother, veteran Hanover boys hockey coach Dick Dodds, was inducted into the Legends in 2012.
This year’s class will include Bedford native and longtime Quinnipiac men’s hockey coach Rand Pecknold, 25-year Bishop Guertin boys hockey coach Gary Bishop, Nashua native and ex-Manchester Monarchs forward Jeff Giuliano and Rochester Youth Hockey Association founder and Berlin native Richard R. Roy.
The group will be formally inducted at an Oct. 23 luncheon in Concord.
