Earlier this year, Valley News photo and graphics editor Geoff Hansen reached out to Upper Valley student photographers through schools and arts organizations and, with the help of their teachers and instructors, challenged them to photograph a person, a place and a thing that is most important to them. Sixteen students from five schools responded to that first call with a wide array of images and interpretations, which the Valley News is featuring both in print and online.

Today’s subject is “People.” The photographs on this page were selected for the variety of approaches the young photographers took to their subjects. (The complete collection of photographs can be seen on the Valley News website, www.vnews.com.)

Any Upper Valley student of any age can submit photographs for consideration at any time.
