WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Hartford has picked an interim town manager to fill in after Brannon Godfrey steps down next month.
In a July 14 virtual meeting, the Hartford Selectboard voted unanimously to appoint Patrick MacQueen, who has served as interim town manager for Hartford in the past, and to approve the contract with Municipal Resources Inc., which helped appoint MacQueen and is aiding the town in the search for a permanent candidate.
“I have fond memories of working in Hartford, there are lots of interesting issues,” MacQueen said via remote video of his time as interim town manager five years ago.
MacQueen, who will be paid $105 per hour, along with travel expenses, will work two to three days a week “as needed” Selectboard member Simon Dennis said during the meeting.
“The town is actually saving quite a bit of money during the interim period,” Dennis added.
MacQueen got his start as an assistant town manager in Delaware in 1972, and then worked as city manager in Keene for 17 years.
He was appointed as interim town manager in Hartford after Hunter Rieseberg stepped down in August 2015, and served in the position until Leo Pullar was hired in 2016.
Most recently, MacQueen served as Claremont’s interim manager in early 2017.
He will take over the position when Godfrey officially steps down Aug. 1. Godfrey announced his resignation in April, following disagreements with the Selectboard.
