Vermont Land Use PlanPublic Forum on Wednesday

Springfield, Vt. — A public forum on Act 250, Vermont’s Land Use and Development Act, will be held this Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Nolin-Murray Center at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 10 Pleasant St., in Springfield.

The event is part of a series of forums and social media outreach campaigns being held this summer and fall to envision Vermont’s future landscape.

Act 250 was initially passed nearly 50 years ago based on citizens’ input. The event is designed to engage citizens in a similar way this time.

After a brief presentation highlighting the key points of Act 250, community members will have a chance to talk about what matters most to them in small group discussions with facilitators.

“I hope Vermonters young and old will take some time to learn about Act 250 and give us their input this summer and fall,” State Rep. Amy Sheldon, D-Addison 1, chairwoman of the Commission on Act 250, said in a news release. “This information will give the commission direction on recommendations for potential future changes.”
