Effective Sunday, Feb. 20, the home delivery price of the Valley News will increase. The amount of the increase will depend on your current rate, but the result will be cents per day. The cost of a digital subscription and the single copy price will not change. The increase is being driven by rising distribution and material costs. The home delivery price has not changed since 2019.
Delivery in various parts of our circulation area has been negatively impacted by driver and staff shortages. We strive to give our readers the delivery service they deserve and pay for and have let many of you down. We take this responsibility seriously and are doing everything we can to address the problem. The labor shortage is hampering a number of businesses in the Upper Valley. We have been working with a firm that specializes in identifying people interested in newspaper delivery, offered incentives and advertise constantly. The next step is exploring same day mail delivery to outlying towns. Many of you show your appreciation to the drivers, and we encourage you to continue. Every home delivery subscriber has access to the e-edition, a digital replica of the print edition. However, we understand some of you only want the print copy.
Your continued support during these unprecedented times is appreciated by all of us at the Valley News.
