Mt. Ascutney Hospital Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Health Care

Windsor — More than 80 golfers participated in the 35th annual Mt. Ascutney Hospital Golf Tournament, held in June at the Woodstock Country Club, continuing a tradition that over the years has raised more than $750,000 for the hospital and in Windsor and the Ottauquechee Health Center in Woodstock.

“Funds generated by the tournament have helped (the hospital and health center) with important projects including facilities upgrades and construction, new patient care services, and our newly modernized Rehabilitation Center,” Joseph Perras, Mt. Ascutney’s president, CEO and chief medical officer, said in a news release.

APD Celebrates Gift Shop’s Anniversary

Lebanon — Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital volunteers and staff recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Gift Tree Shop, an online and bricks-and-mortar store for patients and staff that supports the hospital.

“The Gift Tree Shop actually began as a humble little gift cart for patients in 1978,” said Barbara Brown, the Gift Tree Shop’s co-manager.

“For 25 years, many volunteers have worked diligently to oversee this cheerful space that provides carefully selected gifts, cards and goods to patients, employees and visitors,” she said.

Together with another APD volunteer, Barbara Sargent, they have managed all aspects of the store, including staffing and ordering, the hospital said in a news release.

Since 1992, the Gift Tree Shop has donated proceeds of $158,000 to the hospital.

“I am incredibly proud of the commitment and dedication of our volunteers who make the Gift Tree Shop possible,” Peggy Cooper, who oversees volunteers and community relations for the hospital, said in the release.
