Lyme, N.H. — Beverly Ruth Kidder Strout, age 81, of Lyme, died at home on Monday, January 29, 2018, surround by family. Beverly was born on Oct. 17, 1936, in New York City, the daughter of Prof. George Wallace Kidder Jr., and Ruth Rushworth Kidder. She grew up in Providence, R.I., and Amherst, Mass. Beverly graduated in 1958, with a BA in English Literature from University of Vermont after spending two years at Mt. Holyoke College.

Beverly married Earl Farnham Strout on March 14, 1959. They raised three daughters, and many pets. During their 58 years together, Bev and Earl lived in several New England towns. They ended up in Lyme in 1975, where they bought and operated Green Mountain Studios until 2005.

Beverly had many interests. She and Earl restarted the Lyme Town Band, active in the Lyme Congregational Church, Utility Club, Kids on the Block, played tennis and bridge, Women’s softball team, Lollipop Doll House, and decorated gourds. She was an early member of Revels, and enjoyed singing in the Church choir. She was creative in many ways.

Beverly had very fond memories of the cabin she and her family built on Marion Lake in Ontario, Canada, and the Strout cabin in Alfred, Maine. Beverly leaves her husband, Earl; her Daughters: Tracy, Karen and Robin; eight Grandchildren: Sarah, Michael, Andrew, Cole, Jessica, Isabelle, Tasha, Teddy; sons-in-law: Lyn and Win; nieces: Marjorie Curtis and her family, Heather and Abbe Kidder; nephew: Doug Kidder and his family; brother: George W. Kidder III and wife, and (predeceased by her) brother Rushworth M. Kidder and wife and children, and many friends.

Service is being held at the Lyme Congregational Sunday, Feb. 4 at 4 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lyme Parish Nurse.
