Windham, n.h. — Molly Seibel scored her 200th career point in the first quarter for Hanover and the Marauders doubled up Windham in the second half for a 15-10 NHIAA Division II girls lacrosse win on Wednesday at Windham High School.

Hanover outscored the Jaguars in the second half, 10-5, to bust open a tied ballgame. Seibel finished the game with two goals and five assists. Johanna Copeland netted three goals, and Sonthaya Lacy and Amelia Lubrano each added two goals. Maddie Lyons and Jasmine Lou each scored two goals and added one helper apiece. Cate Wagner, Perrin Milliken and Hailey Fahey each netted one goal for the Marauders. Aiden Stone made nine saves.

Hanover head coach Chris Seibel praised Mahler Meyerrose for her work on draws. The Marauders (9-3) host Portsmouth on Saturday.

Mount Anthony 18, Woodstock 12

Woodstock — The Wasps faced an uphill battle of their own making in the second half. Up one goal at halftime, the Wasps ran into penalty trouble in the second half, falling to the Patriots.

“We didn’t really get anything going considering we played a man down (for most of the second half),” said Woodstock head coach Amanda Soule.

Lauren Kaija led the offense with three goals. Kallan Picconi, Abby Kaija and Grace Vosburgh all contributed two goals and one assist. Nikki Sweeny scored two goals, Rosalie Geiger added one goal and Megan Dalton made five saves for the Wasps.

Woodstock (5-6) hosts Hartford on Friday night.

KUA 21, Dublin 7

Meriden — The Wildcats jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first three minutes.

Nine different KUA players contributed on offense. Maisie O’Shea scored four goals and added two assists, Aurora Braswell netted three goals and two assists, Julia Surgenor scored three goals and one helper, Maddy Gesner scored three goals, Kelsie Worth netted two and set up two, Julia Denny and Mia Brown each scored and added a helper, and Miranda Judd and Annie McKeown each scored one goal.

KUA (7-7) will finish up its season in the Lakes Region League Tournament on Saturday.

Boys Lacrosse Bishop Guertin 19Hanover 0

Nashua, n.h. — The Marauders ran into a buzzsaw against one of the top teams in New Hampshire Division I.

Zander Lingelbach-Pierce and Joe Warhold combined for seven saves for Hanover. The Marauders were without defenseman Tristan Gosselin due to illness, but Hanover head coach Ryan Gardner didn’t want to use that as an excuse.

“We were missing arguably one of our best defenders,” he said. “But don’t get me wrong: Even with him, we would have had a hard time. They’re a really solid team. They have a tremendous amount of talent.”

Hanover (6-8) hosts Bedford on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Hopkinton 13, Lebanon 5

Lebanon — Michael Fleury led the way with two goals and one assist as the Raiders fell to 4-7.

Nate Damren added two goals, Ethan Dedehbani sscored a goal and Nate Chickering added one helper. Bryan Albright made nine saves. Lebanon travels to Campbell (3-7) on Friday.

Kimball Union 12Stanstead 8

Meriden — Mike Lombardi scored a goal and added three assists for the Wildcats.

Will Harrigan scored four goals, Alex Plummer scored twice and Julian Erhard scored his first career goal late in the fourth quarter. KUA (7-10) will conclude its season on Saturday.

Golf Woodstock Wins SVC Title

Springfield, Vt. — With Joe Bianchi earning the medal with an 8-over-par 79, the Wasps came home champs among Division II schools at the Southern Vermont Conference championship at Crown Point Country Club.

Woodstock nipped Otter Valley by two strokes for team honors. Kevan O’Connell and Lucas Godfrey both finished at 100, and Braden McCarthy shot 101 to complete the Wasps’ scoring.

“When the guys got off the bus, I told them Joey was going to shoot a good number; if we get three other guys in the 90s, we’ll win this thing,” Woodstock coach Jim Gunnare said. “They would have been in the 90s, but they had a tough day putting. We were fortunate enough that Otter Valley didn’t putt much better than we did.”

The Wasps play an 18-hole match at Rutland on Monday.

Team scores: Woodstock 380, Otter Valley 382, Mill River 411, Springfield no score.

Hartford Trails in D-I

Springfield, Vt. — The young Hurricanes came in trailing three other foes in their SVC tournament at Crown Point.

Sam Dwyer had the low round for Hartford at 94. Brandon Chiasson (100), Kody Wessel (106) and Jack Heller (112) completed the Canes’ scoring.

“They’re playing well and doing really well in the nine-hole events,” Hartford coach Mike Hathorn noted. “It’s an inexperienced team, and 18-hole tournament are a grind for them.”

Rutland’s Jimmy Mee beat teammate Jared Nelson on the first playoff hole for the medal after both carded 1-over-par 72 in regulation play.

Hartford visits Rivendell at Lake Morey Country Club today for their fourth meeting of the season, of which the Raptors own a pair of victories.

Baseball Woodsville 11Lin-Wood 1 (5)

Lincoln, n.h. — Jaret Bemis allowed one hit in three innings of work as the Engineers jumped to 9-4.

Eric Thornton led the offense with two hits, three runs scored, an RBI and three stolen bases. Jordan Clark added two hits, one run and two RBIs, and Seanon May had two hits, a run and an RBI. May and Clark split the final two innings on the mound.

Woodsville travels to Blue Mountain on Monday.

Rivendell 18Twinfield 1 (6)

Plainfield, Vt. — Dametres Perry recorded five strikeouts and allowed three walks, three hits and no earned runs in five innings of work for the Raptors.

Sam Tilden pitched the final inning and recorded two strikeouts. Rivendell amassed 14 hits and left 12 runners on base. Michael Delaney had a hit and two RBIs, and Caleb Hayley added a hit and a two-run single. The Raptors (4-8) host Whitcomb-Rochester on Monday.

John Stark 9, Lebanon 7

Lebanon — Trailing 7-4 in the seventh inning, John Stark rallied with two outs to snap Lebanon’s two-game win streak.

“This is just a heartbreaking loss,” said Lebanon head coach Doug Ashey. “We’ve been playing really, really well. Against a top-four team like that, we’ve been playing really good baseball.”

The Generals tied the game on a three-run home run and added two more runs to take the lead for good.

Derek Griffin allowed two walks, 11 hits, eight earned runs and recorded five strikeouts in the loss. Nate Perkins had four hits for the Raiders, and Matt Sullivan and Andrew Hadlock each had two hits and two RBIs.

Lebanon (4-9) continues its stretch of three games in three days today at home against Goffstown.

Hopkinton 11, Stevens 2

Hopkinton, n.h. — The Cardinals (6-5) couldn’t make a good start last, as the Hawks piled 11 unanswered runs into a victory.

Noah Spaulding opened the game with a single for Stevens, Drew Grenier bunted him over and Coby Hussey walked to put two runners on base. After both moved up on a groundout, Spaulding scored on a wild pitch and Hussey came home on a bad-hop RBI single from Ryan Napsey.

Everything else went Hopkinton’s way. “They hit the ball well,” Stevens coach Paul Silva said. “We didn’t help by not fielding the ball well, but that takes nothing away from them. You don’t score 11 runs without putting some offense (together).”

Stevens visits Conant on Friday.

Hartford 4, Otter Valley 1

Brandon, Vt. — Wyatt Connor gave up one earned run, five hits, one walk and struck out three as the Hurricanes continued to turn things around.

“We have three (games) left,” said Hartford head coach Jarrod Grassi. “We’ve struggled a little bit in the field with tough hops. It didn’t hurt us today. We’ve made some big plays defensively.”

Hartford’s big inning came in the third after Connor’s infield single loaded the bases. Austin Gaudette batted in one run, and the Hurricanes scored twice on walks to pull away from Otter Valley.

Hartford (8-5) hosts Brattleboro on Saturday at Maxfield.

Green Mountain 8Woodstock 2

Chester, Vt. — The Wasps committed five errors to undo a strong pitching performance from Hunter Balch.

Woodstock gave up six unearned runs in the loss. Devon Mumford hit a double and one RBI, and Joe Bianchi had one hit, one RBI and one run scored for the Wasps. Balch also scored.

“It’s been a tough year,” said Woodstock head coach Jason Tarleton. “We’re finding ourselves searching for ways to minimize mistakes. … Really, it’s a 3-2 game if we take care of routine plays in the field.”

Woodstock (1-9) hosts Windsor today in a makeup game.

Softball Woodsville 22, Lin-Wood 7

Lincoln, n.h. — The Engineers exploded for 12 runs in the second inning en route to their ninth win of the year.

Alyssa Prest pitched four innings, recording six strikeouts, four hits, three earned runs and three walks. Tori Clough struck out one in the fifth inning and helped herself with two hits and five runs scored. Woodsville’s Dee Martin added three hits and three RBIs, and Maggie Daly added two hits and five runs. Woodsville added four runs in the third inning, three in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

The Engineers (9-4) travel to Blue Mountain on Monday.

John Stark 13, Lebanon 0 (5)

Lebanon — Morganne Young managed the lone hit for the Raiders (2-10).

Sydney Broughton threw all five innings for Lebanon, walking three and fanning one. Broughton kept the Generals (5-7) close for most of the contest until a 10-run fifth inning ended the game.

The Raiders host Goffstown today.

Fair Haven 18Hartford 3 (6)

Fair Haven, Vt. — Brooke Hurd took the loss but contributed a two-RBI double for the Hurricanes.

Emily Ballou had two hits for Hartford (7-6), which travels to Springfield on Friday night.

Twinfield 18Rivendell 1 (5)

Plainfield, Vt. — Cierra Longto recorded three strikeouts and allowed five walks in the loss.

Longto added a double to the Rivendell attack, and Kirstyn Vinford scored the Raptors’ lone run. Rivendell (0-12) hosts South Royalton today.

Otter Valley 17, Windsor 0

Brandon, Vt. — The Yellowjackets committed five errors in the loss.

Katie Harriman recorded one strikeout and allowed 10 hits, six walks and six earned runs in 3 innings. Becca Rumrill entered the game in relief and allowed one hit, one walk and three unearned runs. Windsor (0-12) travels to Mill River on Saturday.

Kimball Union 15Brewster 3 (5)

Meriden — KUA scored a season-high 15 runs and forced three three-and-outs defensively in its season finale.

Caitlin Beneat had two hits and three runs scored, Ashley Smith had two hits, two runs and two RBIs, Kayleigh Coombs scored two runs, had two hits and one RBI, and Shea Rulon had a trible, a double and scored once. Caitlin Doyle scored her first career run.

Coombs recorded seven strikeouts, walked one and gave up one hit in five innings.

Boys TennisLebanon 9, Goffstown 0

Goffstown, n.h. — Another day, another sweep for the undefeated Raiders (12-0).

The Grizzlies did put up some resistance, forcing 8-6 matches from Lebanon singles players Noah Ryder and Nick Haidari along with the doubles teams of Ben Ask-Owen Johnstone and Ryder-Lasse Bisp. But the Raiders claimed those to go with singles victories from Jacob Peress (8-2), Terran Campbell (8-0), Johnstone (8-3) and Ask-Owen (8-1) out of the top four slots along with the No. 1 doubles decision from Peress and Campbell (8-0).

Lebanon finishes its regular season with back-to-back home matches against Bishop Brady today and Plymouth on Friday.

Hanover 9, Alvirne 0

Hudson, n.h. — Graham Dickson led the way with an 8-4 victory at No. 1 singles as the Marauders improved to 9-3.

Benny Gantrish, Aidan Biglow and Jasper Meyer earned victories in close singles matches. Hanover travels to Keene today. 

Rutland 7, Woodstock 0

Rutland — Peter Borden and Oliver Wilson each lost close matches as the Wasps finished their schedule at 7-7.

Wilson dropped his match at No. 3 singles in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 10-6. Borden took his first set to a tiebreaker. Woodstock will likely hit the road to open the Vermont Division tournament next week.

Brattleboro 4, Hartford 3

White River Junction — The Hurricanes (4-11) nearly came all the way back from a 3-0 deficit in their final match of the regular season.

No. 1 Dan Nguyen, No. 4 Naomi Hematillake and No. 5 Riley Kehoe all grabbed straight-sets wins to level the match at 3-3 with only first doubles left to decide the day. Hartford’s Hunter Brooks and Ethan Sneddon extended their Brattleboro foe to a third-set tiebreak before succumbing, 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.

Seniors Nguyen, Brooks, Christine Miller and Ashazi Shakur wrapped up their varsity careers with Wednesday’s match.

Girls TennisHanover 9, Coe-Brown 0

Northwood, n.h.— The Marauders stayed perfect at 11-0.

Rine Uhm, Izzi Davis and Margaret Werner all earned singles wins. Uhm and Grace Li won at No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Hanover hosts Con-Val today.

Woodstock 6, Rutland 1

Woodstock — Grace Frazier and Kenzie Biele emerged with three-set victories as the Wasps continue to roll into their season finale.

MoMo Biele suffered Woodstock’s only loss at No. 1 singles, dropping a 14-12 third-set tiebreaker. The Wasps (13-1) finish their regular season hosting Mount St. Joseph’s today.

KUA 8, New Hampton 1

Meriden — The Wildcats (9-0) capped their third straight perfect spring by controlling the Huskies.

Christina Ryan, Hana Caloras, Kelly Do and Erin Gregory-Davis recorded wins in singles and doubles play, in the process completing undefeated seasons in both disciplines. Charlotte Greenspan added a singles win, and Ella Malone teamed with Zulal Ozyer at third doubles to finish the day.

KUA goes to Brewster for the Lakes Region Tournament on Saturday.

Track and FieldOxbow Girls Take Second

Winooski, Vt. — The Oxbow girls were second and the boys took third in a three-team meet Tuesday afternoon at Winooski High School.

Emily Carson led the way for the Olympians, winning the 300-meter hurdles and claiming third in the 100 hurdles and 100 dash. Oxbow’s 1,600-meter relay team of Hannah Giesing, Carson, Franni Hoag and Izzy Giesing took first as well. Izzy Giesing won the javelin throw and the triple jump, and Hannah Giesing took the long jump.

For the boys, William Douglas placed second in the 1,500, Jon Puffer took third in the 800 and Oxbow’s 1,600 relay team of Puffer, Skylar Ladd, Jarret Rock and Tyrus Rosten placed second.

Rivendell’s Owen Pelletier finished second in the boys 100 and won the boys long jump.

Oxbow competes at Windsor on Wednesday.

Women’s LacrosseLeto Named to IWLCA Third Team

Hanover  The final individual honor for Dartmouth senior Jaclyn Leto came Wednesday as the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association named her to its all-American third team.

Leto set new career highs in points (58), goals (53), game-winners (four), ground balls (28), caused turnovers (17), shots (102) and draw controls (49). Her place in the top echelon of the program’s history seems secure as she concluded her career fifth in points (175), third in goals (151) and third in draw controls (131).

The Dartmouth team captain was also the first player in league history to win the conference’s offensive and defensive player of the week honors in the same week when she was recognized for her play against Penn in late March.
