Caterina (Salsiccia) Belanger

Claremont, NH – Caterina “Cathy” (Salsiccia) Belanger, of Claremont, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Alphonse Belanger, with whom she shared nearly 68 years of marriage.

Born on August 6, 1937, in Algeria and raised in Palermo, Sicily, Cathy remained deeply proud of her Sicilian heritage throughout her life. She was the cherished daughter of Girolamo and Margherita Salsiccia and a loving sister to Angelo. After World War II, she immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island, joining her parents and beginning a new chapter rooted in resilience, courage, and family devotion.

Cathy built her life in New England, eventually settling in Claremont. In her early twenties, she met Alphonse in a local shoe shop-a chance encounter that blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and shared joy, especially on the dance floor.

A dedicated mother, she raised two sons, Dennis Belanger and Anthony Belanger, who were her pride and joy. She was also a deeply loving grandmother to Matthew Belanger and Angela Belanger, a constant source of guidance, warmth, and support.

Cathy was the heart of her family-a true matriarch who brought people together. Her home was always open, filled with the aromas of her cooking and the comfort of her presence.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alphonse Belanger; her sons, Dennis Belanger and his wife Sheila Belanger, and Anthony Belanger and his partner Jeannine Foley; her grandchildren, Matthew Belanger and his husband Jake Belanger, and Angela Belanger; her brother, Angelo Salsi and his wife Ina Salsi; her nephew, Jamie Salsi; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Services will be held on Monday, April 6, at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont, NH, with visiting hours from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a service and burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, and a reception at The Common Man.
