Lebanon, NH – Kirk Baird passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, after a brief illness. Born April 11, 1944, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, to the late Leonard and Jeanne Baird, Kirk graduated from Shadyside Academy and Yale University. He began his career at IBM and went on to a distinguished 50-year career spanning banking, finance, and real estate.
Kirk held senior leadership roles at First Bank, Citytrust, and Lafayette Bank and Trust, and worked with Wright Investors’ Service and Merrill Lynch. In real estate, he served clients throughout Connecticut and New Hampshire and was proud of his work financing projects including the Shubert Theater, Toad’s Place, and St. Basil’s Greek Orthodox Church. He remained active professionally in New Hampshire in real estate and at the Alumni Gymnasium at Dartmouth College.
Committed to community, Kirk was President of the YMCA of Greater New Haven and served as Director of the Yale Club of New Haven, President of the Linden Shores District of Branford, Director of the New Haven Chamber of Commerce, and Deacon and Finance Board member at Dixwell Avenue United Church of Christ.
Kirk was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Recently, he moved to the Upper Valley near family to attend games and events and was his grandchildren’s biggest fan. He will be missed by family at holidays, birthdays, and in everyday moments.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children Len Baird and Jennifer Baird Hamilton; son-in-law Chris Hamilton; grandchildren Tyler, Kyle, and Caroline Hamilton; step-grandchild Sofia Rojas; stepchildren Kate Sosnoff and Ben Sosnoff (Devon); sister Linda Campbell; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his infant brother, John David.
