Harrisburg, PA – Ellen Brooks Rosen, 96, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on October 15, 2025.
Born August 21, 1929, in St. Albans, VT, she was a daughter of the late Floyd D. and Verna P. Brooks.
Ellen is survived by two sons, R. Andrew Rosen of Concord, NH and Richard F. Rosen of Harrisburg, PA, as well as five grandchildren and several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard V. Rosen and sisters, Janet B. Davison and Carolyn B. Wennerstrom.
Ellen was a 1947 graduate of Bellows Free Academy, St. Albans, VT. She married Richard V. Rosen, in Georgia, VT, in 1954 and they resided in Essex Junction, VT until Richard was transferred to the State Police Barracks in Rutland, VT. In 1964, they were transferred to Newbury, VT, where they made their home until 2006 when they moved to Harrisburg, PA to be closer to their youngest son.
Ellen was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church in Newbury, VT, where she was active in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Oxbow Chapter DAR in Newbury, VT. Ellen enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking. She and Richard also enjoyed traveling to many states in their motorhome.
Committal Services and interment in Town House Cemetery, Newbury Center, VT, will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
