Hartford, White River Valley runners finish second in girls and boys SVL races

HARTFORDย โ€” Sylvia Johnson of Hartford and George Roda of White River Valley were the top finishers among Upper Valley teams at a Southern Vermont League crossย country meet on Tuesday.

Johnson was second in the 5,000 meter girls races with a time of 18:45, which was eight seconds behind winner Desi Broadley of Green Mountain (18:37). Roda also finished second, crossing in 16:27 behind Finnegan Barden of Randolph (15:53.)

Other top 10 finishes in the girls field of 25 were Casey Wiedrick, Oxbow, 3rd, Anya Young, White River Valley, 4th, Scarlett Brooks, Hartford, 6th, Lyla Metheny Hartford, 8th, Maddie Carbino, Hartford 9th, and Kira White, Hartford 10th. In the boys race, Hartford captured the 3rd through 6th finishes with Elliot Brooks, Leo Snyder-Hamala, Scott McSherry, and Elijah Olstad. Finishing seventh and eighth were John Henry Andrew and Charlie Mogavero of Claremont Christian Academy with George Rosalbo of Randolph 9th and Douglas Kussius of Hartford 10th in the field of 31 runners. Jake Danis, 12th, was top finisher for the Oxbow boys
