CROSS COUNTRY
Hanover girls win Queensbury Invitational
QUEENSBURY, N.Y. — Finishing sixth among 174 runners, senior Megan Faris led Hanover High to a first place finish among 21 teams at the Queensbury Pre-States Invitational Division 4 cross country race on Saturday.
Hanover’s Aria Deeb was 11th, Millie Larrick 14th and Lila Muirhead 22nd in the 5,000 meter race. Hanover’s team score of 76 points was 26 points better than second place John Jay of Cross River, N.Y.
The Hanover boys finished fourth in Division 4, with Isaac McNaughton 10th in the 5,000 meter race and Alexander Collins 13th among 182 runners.
Mascoma’s Russell second at Eagle Nest Invitational
PORTSMOUTH — Mascoma’s Carl Russell finished second at the Eagles Nest Invitational cross country race on Saturday. Karson Rogers was 12th in the field of 28.
For the girls, Izzy Currier was 10th for the Royals. Team scores were not compiled.
“Carl Russell and Izzy Currier both medaled and led some really strong performances for us today,” Mascoma coach Rick Currier said.
