WOODSTOCK — Two Upper Valley residents were awarded prizes in Billings Farm & Museum’s annual quilt exhibition.
Kate Salesin, of West Lebanon, earned the Best Hand Quilting award for her piece titled “Sprinkle Quilt,” which is the first quilt she ever made, according to a news release from Billings, a nonprofit based in Woodstock.
She “hand quilted with the sock yarn and let the bold sprinkles of colors play over the top,” Salesin said in the release.
Jane Rippe, of Enfield, earned the Best Machine Quilting award for her quilt titled “Jewel Quilt,” according to the release.
“There was a tremendous amount of measuring, marking, and stitching to create a completely reversible quilt,” Rippe said in the release.
Pam Weeks, the curator at the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, Mass., served as judge for Billing’s “A Vermont Quilt Sampler” exhibition, which features 56 quilts.
The exhibition is on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Monday, Sept. 1. Admission is $23 for adults, $19 for seniors 65 and older, $16 for students 16 and older, and $14 for children ages 3 to 15.
