LEBANON — Lebanon voted to approve a $14.34 million bond to renovate Lebanon High School and Hanover Street School. 2022 was the fourth time in five years that the spending was on the ballot.

Lebanon also voted on another repeat article — whether or not to eliminate the school resource officer program, which brings armed police officers into schools. Last year, voters approved the article, which is on the ballot by petition, by just five votes. This year, it passed by a wider margin (811-650). Still, it is non-binding, and it will be up to the school board to decide the issue.

Four women ran for three seats on the school board. Mary Edes won a seat with 968 votes; Martha DiDomenico won a seat with 881 votes; and Renee Depalo won a seat with 811 votes. With only 665 votes, Jenica Nelan was defeated. Each seat on the Selectboard is a three-year term.

There were no other contested races. Christian Simon, a retired firefighter who served the city for 30 years, will join the City Council as Ward 1’s new councilor.
