Royalton

Article of note: Royalton voters will be asked in Australian ballot voting on March 1 whether the town should adopt an ordinance allowing all-terrain vehicles on portions of town highways in order to connect to recreational trails elsewhere.

Should Royalton adopt such an ordinance, ATV operators would be required to wear helmets and abide by licensing and registration requirements and speed limits.

Contested races: There are no contested races.

Budgets and spending articles: Voters will be asked to adopt a general fund budget of $1.45 million and a highway budget of $1.03 million for the coming fiscal year. That includes $1.13 million to be raised by taxes for the general fund and $805,000 for the highway budget. Together, that marks a 1% increase over what was raised by taxes to support the two budgets for the current year, Town Administrator Victoria Paquin said.

When, where and how to vote: Voting is scheduled to take place on March 1 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the White River Valley School’s Royalton campus, 223 South Windsor St.
