NORTH HAVERHILL — A town manager with experience in both New Hampshire and Vermont starts work next week as the new county administrator for Grafton County.
Andrew Dorsett, who has been the town manager in Littleton, N.H., for more than five years, has been hired for the $121,992-a-year job.
Wendy Piper, the chairwoman of the Grafton County commissioners, said she and her colleagues were looking for someone who could both manage the county and play a “forward-looking” role at the county complex in North Haverhill.
“The search committee was impressed with his wide knowledge base and ability to speak fluently to any number of issues that were brought up regarding county government and public administration,” Piper, D-Enfield, said via email.
“Grafton County has a very strong base established already in the county administrator position regarding the daily operation and supervision of the functions on campus and other government services that we deliver. This new hire will be able to look outward toward projects that might deliver important services to Grafton County residents, such as broadband deployment and participation in community power,” she said.
Dorsett, who was hired in Littleton in 2015, previously worked as the assistant town manager in Barre Town, Vt., and as a town administrator in Warren, N.H., and Bradford, Vt. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of New Hampshire. Messages left for him in Littleton earlier this week were not returned.
Dorsett will succeed longtime County Administrator Julie Libby, who is stepping aside after more than 18 years in the top job to become the county’s finance director, a newly created position.
