Hot topic: With the COVID-19 pandemic still a major concern, the town of West Windsor has scrapped its traditional floor meeting this year in favor of Australian ballot voting, but plans to hold an informational session by Zoom at the end of February at a date yet to be set. The town this year has broken out four expenditures under one article, the General Fund, Highway Fund Library Fund and Cemetery Fund.
Budget: The four funds total $1.46 million, and the town report says total expenses are up by almost 2.2%, but that is offset by a boost in non-tax revenues and almost $60,000 from prior-year surpluses. As a result, revenue required for the four funds would be 0.6% below what was approved last year. “Keeping town taxes essentially flat from year to year was a goal the Selectboard is pleased to have achieved,” the annual report says.
Noteworthy articles: The warning includes an article asking if the town should spend $2,000 to reimburse neighboring Windsor for the use of Windsor Recreation Center facilities and programs by West Windsor residents without them being charged non-resident fees.
Contested races: There are no contested elections on the ballot. Selectboard member Matthew Kantola is unopposed for a three-year term, and longtime Town Clerk Cathy Archibald and Town Moderator Matt Birmingham, among other officials, are seeking re-election as well.
When and where: Voting will take place by Australian ballot from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, at Story Memorial Hall. Voters may also submit absentee ballots before then. There will be no floor debate. For more information, call the Town Clerk’s Office at 802-484-7212.
