LEBANON, NH — Mona Julia LaHaye, 90, passed away at Hanover Terrace on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 with her children by her side. She was born to the late Joseph Julius and Thelma Bertha (Messier) St. Francis. She attended schools in Hartford, VT, and began working for Baxter’s Cleaners as a young woman. Mona married John H. LaHaye and they settled on Mt. Support Road where they began their family and operated a pig farm. In 1988 they moved to Barden Hill Road in Lebanon. At the age of 70, she was still throwing hay on a trailer and splitting firewood. Following John’s death, she moved to the Lebanon Towers. She enjoyed volunteering at the Listen Center in Lebanon and being involved with her community. In 2016 she was awarded the title of NH State Volunteer. Mona enjoyed her daily three plus mile walks, gardening, baking, knitting and traveling. She got her first driver’s license at the age of 52. Mona cherished her family over anything else, enjoying family outings to fairs and gatherings at home.

Mona is survived by six of her eight children: John (Becky) LaHaye of Etna, NH; Lafie (Janice) LaHaye of Lebanon, NH; Bill (Cindy) LaHaye of Lebanon, NH; Joanne (Frank) Bouchard of Plainfield, NH; Cathy (Tony) Gow of Clearwater, FL and Sharon (Andy) Stearns of Enfield, NH. Her grandchildren Carrie(Brendon) Downey, Christy Robinson, Andrew (Leslie)LaHaye, Kevin(Laura) LaHaye, Laura LaHaye, Wendy (Aaron) Kramish, Mickey(Sabrina) LaHaye, Brandon LaHaye, Brandy Bouchard, Francis(Erin and baby)Bouchard, Daniel (Christine) Gow, Chris (Heather) Stearns, and Mike (Stacey) Stearns. Her great grandchildren include Carli Downey, Caitlin Downey, Carter Neil, Killian Shea, Lukas LaHaye, Matteo LaHaye, Noah LaHaye, Tanner LaHaye, Eila LaHaye, Ben LaHaye-Biddle, Elise LaHaye-Biddle, Miles Kramish, Nora Kramish, Olivia LaHaye, Blake LaHaye, Brady LaHaye, Aiyana Sawyer, Brooke Hurd and Tate Hurd. She was predeceased by her husband John and daughters Deborah (John) Robinson and Terry LaHaye. She is also survived by many siblings, in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Due to COVID restrictions services are postponed until we can all meet safely to celebrate Mona’s life. An announcement for her services will be published in a later edition of the Valley News.
