LEBANON — A 38-year-old White River Junction man faces felony charges after trying to meet someone he thought was a minor for sex, according to a news release from Lebanon police.

Erwin Feeney was charged with felony counts of certain uses of a computer prohibited, attempted kidnapping, attempted sexual assault and attempted endangering the welfare of a child, the release said.

Feeney pleaded nsot guilty at an arraignment on Tuesday and is being held pending his next court date.

The arrest came after police led an investigation into people using social media to meet children for sex. During the investigation, undercover officers posing as a 15-year-old girl communicated with Feeney via social media and they planned to meet in a Lebanon parking lot on Monday, according to Lebanon Police Chief Richard Mello.

A court date for Feeney’s next hearing has not been set.
